Lakers can go over the cap to sign Randle once Lebron and George are signed as long as they have room for his cap hold.

Lakers would need to convince Lebron and George to take a combined 4.31m less than their projected salaries to make it all fit. If they want to keep Bryant as well, that number climbs to 4.86m.

Ball: 7,461,960
Ingram: 5,757,120
Kuzma: 1,689,840
Hart: 1,655,160
Deng (stretched): 7,362,000
Randle (cap hold): 12,447,726
4 Empty roster spots (cap hold): 3,327,708
George: 30,000,000 approx
Lebron: 35,607,969 (salary if he stays with Cavs)
Total: 105,309,483
Cap: 101,000,000
Need to cut: 4,309,483

Add Bryant: 1,378,242 (- 831,927 empty roster spot hold) = 546,315

The salary cap makes my head hurt.

Called in sick and just heard Broussard float an interesting possibility.....

Sign James and CP and then trade for PG.

James and CP would be even more expensive, since CP wants the max, eliminating Randle. What are they going to trade to OKC to get to $20M in value for George?

He was speculating Ingram, Ball, and another contract.

How much of a beating do you take out there in NY being a fan of Cali teams?

With Randle's cap hold they will have about 49 million in cap space assuming they renounce the other cap holds.

How exactly do they get the 11 million to go to where you want, assuming that they would be willing to take paycuts which I am dubious about?

The numbers are all right there in my post; did you stretch Deng's contract?

My numbers above include his cap hold. If the Lakers can get Lebron and PG13 for a little under their projected cost, they can keep Randle's cap hold in play, allowing them to go over the cap if his salary exceeds his cap hold (as expected).

PG might take a little less, but I don't see Lebron doing that. It would be awesome if they could keep Randle and get PG/Lebron.

I'm going on this...

Los Angeles Lakers 2018-19 Salary Cap

If they renounce everyone they have 61 million in cap space. If they don't renounce Randle's 12 million they will have 49 million. Stretching Deng's contract gets you to somewhere around 58 million. Two max contracts are 65 million. So I'm not sure what I'm missing here.

What other contract though? The rest are expensive guys the Lakers will renounce (KCP, Bropez, etc).

We're pretty close. I said the Lakers would need to get those contracts down to under 61 million (and as those two sign, two cap holds for empty roster spots go away to clear another 1.6M) to be able to keep Randle in the picture.

Well it would still appear that you would need them to take significant paycuts. That seems very unlikely especially Lebron given his involvement with the player's association.

Less than $5M between the two of them. Sure, it's less than ideal. Depends if they care about playing with Randle or not. That $5M will be more than made up with the endorsements they will get in LA (especially George; James is already huge with endorsements).

If necessary, the Lakers can wave and stretch Deng which would free up 11 million or so

Good job, Lonzo. That's going to help bring Lebron to LA.

Having said that, if Lebron goes to LA, Magic's likely trading both of them anyway.

Judging from afar, lol. Lonzo, Kuzma and Hart have been poking fun at each other all year. They've bonded; none of this is aggressive or negative in nature. No need to trade either of them to get Lebron anyway (slight chance of one being moved with Deng if absolutely necessary).

I'm trading Lonzo while he still has value if you land Lebron/PG.
