Did you see my post a few above yours? When bama be at Au in 84 did it keep au out of the Sugar bowl?
The answer is yes. LSU went to the Sugar Bowl instead of Auburn due to the Alabama victory over Auburn in 1984. It was a direct cause and effect.

Solid question, and I have no idea. I think it's in part to, no matter what channel the game was on, my dad had the TV volume down and the voice of the Mountaineers (Jack Fleming) cranked up... man, I miss those days!!
*Goosebumps*
R.I.P Jack

Vast majority of my first memories of WVU football was Jack on radio. Listened to MANY games on radio before I ever saw my first game in person or on TV.

For me, Live, 1982 WVU v Richmond

tv.....I THINK also 1982 v OU on the first satellite dish I ever saw.
We took a break from trout fishin to watch the game on that huge dish at one of my dads friends house on the creek..

We drove to Charleston (from Parkersburg) and saw the OU game on closed circuit at the civic center. It was an awesome time! We were down, the feed went black, comes on and we're recovering an onside kick, place went nuts, lol!
I'll never forget my first live game. I was 6, it was against Pitt at Old Mountaineer field, and what I saw that day scarred me for life!! Just damn!! LOL!!!!

It's my first one too.

The whole family was around the TV.

It wasn't my first game, but the it's the one that I remember. It was on Thanksgiving day, my dad was on leave from Vietnam, the whole family was eating and watching the game.

The first one I remember that I can tell you what it was is Bo over the top. I'd seen games earlier than that, but couldn't tell you who was playing really, back in those days I didn't really understand much beyond people cheering = good and Alabama and Bear = Good, etc.

That is a tough question. I remember seeing Howard "Hopalong" Cassidy on the screen. He went on to win the Heisman. I can't remember the year or who they were playing, but I remember Cassidy. Can't even be sure if that's the year he won the Heisman.

Strangely I think I have a similar memory. I was realllly young though. Don’t really remember going to games until I had season tickets in 98.

Yeah I don't know if it sticks out to me because we were at my cousin's house, the game was on ESPN(We didn't have cable til getting DirecTV in 2001) so that may be why that specific game against LSU has stuck with me.

I just remember LSU wearing the gold jersey really wish we would bring them back from time to time.

Thank you kind sir. I hate switching over to look something up when all I have to do is ask. And a lot of times I'll start searching and get so sidetracked I forget what I was originally looking for.

This is not directly on topic but I can remember my first west Virginia game i saw in person. It was either 84 or 85 Hall of Fame bowl in B'ham. Against Kentucky. The mountaineers won i remember that and I think hostetler was the qb at the time for WV. Oh and it's the only time I've seen WV play.

Very, close... enough for me, lol! '83, and what a freakin' game! Hard hitting, low scoring... miss those defensive games.

Damn it. I was 5. Not cheating either, but if had had to guess the score it was something like 23-16 or 21-17 close I do know that. I probably just made a fool out if myself.
