October 1st 1969. Alabama vs Ole Miss. Alabama won 33-32 in a shootout. It was the first prime time national college football game broadcast. Archie Manning was the Ole Miss QB.

Solid question, and I have no idea. I think it's in part to, no matter what channel the game was on, my dad had the TV volume down and the voice of the Mountaineers (Jack Fleming) cranked up... man, I miss those days!!

1-1-85 Sugar Bowl- Nebraska vs. LSU Watched it with my Dad and Grandpa (Mom's Dad). I was initially pissed that I couldn't watch Super Friends.
Watched that game in Topeka KS, in the ATC at Philip Billard Airport. We closed the tower at 7:30 each night. The controller on duty was from N. Platte and I wasn't happy with the outcome!
I started watching a little CFB around the middle 60s and don't have a clue about the 1st game I watched.

First game of any kind was the 83 NCAA title game between NCST and Houston. First CFB game I remember was the 83 Gator Bowl

It wasn't the first game I watched, but the first game I remember was 1998 @ LSU. Upset the 6th ranked Tigers 28-27. I was 7 at the time.

1972 Liberty Bowl loss to Georgia Tech on a missed 2 point conversion. It was Johnny Majors' last game at Iowa State before he moved on to Pitt.

For me it was the 96 game against USC. I'm sure I watched games prior to that for that year and prior seasons, but I can't recollect any of them. Also, I don't remember much of the 97 season, outside of the bowl game against LSU. After that, I have a distinct memory of mostly everything following that 97 season.
Strangely I think I have a similar memory. I was realllly young though. Don’t really remember going to games until I had season tickets in 98.

84 bama vs Au
Au was favored and bama upset Au. If I'm not mistaken did that keep Au out of the Sugar bowl??

The earliest one I can remember is the Spartan Bob extra second game between Michigan State and Michigan. Mad Dog 20/20 is a hell of a memory cleanser.

I was in the military at the time and deployed, so I didn't see it live. I looked it up and Cheaters got punted to the Liberty bowl after that loss. Lul.

Game sticks out, we had some folks over I was the only kid there and sitting beside pops glued to the tv. Seeing him getting excited sold me on bama right there. I had watched bits and pieces if games b4. Never had i sat start to finish for a game. I was 6 at the time.

I was 5 for the '65 Orange bowl. I remember sitting on my dad's lap and asking, "who that that #12?" He said, "that's Joe Namath." That's my first memory of football, and my first Bama game.

For whatever reason, I always loved Joe Willie. Especially, the commercials later during his pro career.
