Compare the 2. Since coming into the league Jackson has 35 PD, 7 INTs, and forced 1 fumble. During that same time, Houston has 9 INTs, 43 PD, and 3 FF. Jackson has 162 tackles, Houston has 195. Houston has played less games, and lines up against far better receivers. How is this guy better?

Slightly better numbers, but he didnt line up at #1 for the Pats most of that year, he hasnt done it since that year, and the Lions would have had to draft him #2 overall instead of Suh to draft him. I'll take Suh (which is what it would have cost to get him) and Houston over safety being forced to play CB1 for us any day. Nice try bruh

and i'm not shitting on mccourty. i'd love him in detroit. but i dont think he'd take houstons job. he'd be our #2 out here and secondary would be better. but houston is still lined up in the same spot.

You could have traded up for McCourty IMO.. They were willing to do it for Best whom unfortunately is done with concussions.. You seem to point to stats as being the important for a CB, well that's BS... The less tackles a CB has the better IMO.. Jackson is an upgrade over Houston and McCourty for those 2 years certainly was as well.. Having a Jackson/Houston or McCourty/Houston duo is much better than anything the Lions have thrown out there the last few years.. Can't argue at all with that..

And my argument wasn't just about Houston whom I think is playing out of position.. The Lions in general have done a piss poor job with the secondary..

Sherman would take Houstons job for sure. No question. But if they Lions drafted him can you really say he would have developed for us like he did for seattle? i cant.

It all depends.. I think scouting and management is lacking.. He could have very well been a bum with us.. I can't disagree with that.. Maybe we are looking at this wrong.. Maybe the scouting really is that bad.. Or the coaching..

Bullshit. Your arguement was precisely about Houston. Houston was the man you named. You've tried jumping away from that but that was your point. And if McCourty or Jackson were here they'd be our #2 and would be a huge upgrade over our current 2. No question. I'd love either one.

Prove to me Houston is a clear cut number 1 over McCourty or Jackson..

I wont stand up for our coaching. So no argument there.

Mayhew has made some mistakes and some draft picks could have went better without question. Noone is saying that. I am only saying Houston is and has been our best option for CB for us. If we could get a shutdown corner and have Houston lined up at 2 that would be awesome. But it is not realistic at this point fo our team.

Now that's just asinine as it could never be proven at this point. Weak argument.
It's as asinine as saying that McCourty with his situation in NE is the reason he could never be better than Houston... Is it not?

Sadly Houston has been one of the better pickups.. But if he's your number 1 something is wrong.. But I recall the last two years, the conversation was about the Lions drafting a CB in the 1st.. They never addressed it.. Hopefully Slay develops...

I have. Houston has put up similar or better numbers against far superior WR's with a much weaker defense than either of them has had to deal with. Why do you think NE and HOU dont line McCourty or Jackson up with guys like AJ Green? It's not because they would just do a little too well against them.
