I dont like trading for ryan or nash either i want to sign a forward like Doan ar trade for someone like that to help us this year.

Ryan would help this team infinitely more then Doan this year and in the long run. Just wanted to point that out quick.

i dont think gervais played some games due to a healthy scratch im trying to figure out why we signed him for 2 years

i dont understand gervais at all.. we already have lilja to fill the "veteran d-man that isn't good enough to play every night" role..

love the fedetenko signing. i think he's a fantastic bottom 6 guy.

its understandable.. i dont really see how the flyers can really improve from here.. pretty much all of the free agents that could make a difference are gone now.. the only 2 big return guys nobody wants to give up

could this be a patient year from the flyers? see what the young guys can handle? i wouldn't be overly opposed to that.. the young guys could surprise people, they did last year.. stay the course and see what the kids can accomplish with a year under their belts? we know the work ethic will be there.. and if that fails, they'll load up in 2013-14 cause they'll have a lot more room and a lot of the stars will be at their max-potential under their current contracts..

one guy that's still out there that i think would be a great addition would be fedetenko.. to help round out the bottom 6.. guy is a warrior defensively these days

I liked Fedotenko before we signed him :)

With Ryan we would have to give up a couple of good young players and with Doan we dont so i dont see how Ryan could help us more

Because Ryan is 10 years younger and has a lot more potential (now and in the future). Doan will be retired at the end of his next contract (3-4 years) while Ryan will be in his prime.

With all of the young talent we have, it makes sense to consolidate and get better...especially if the player we get back is a young, elite-level player.

Ok, but will Ryan's production outweigh the production of Doan PLUS the production of Read, Voracek, draft picks, etc that we would have to give up?

I dont like Doan for 4 years if we have to do that i would rather not sign him and save money for next year. Bobby Ryan only had 57 points last year and i would think that our current players would cover that easily.

+10000000 this is my point exactly

Well, that's a silly question. It doesn't make any sense because you'd have to compare team production with Ryan (minus pieces traded, plus replacements) against team production with Doan and everyone not traded. You can't just say Ryan vs. Doan plus everyone we kept...lol

We'll also be in a huge bidding war for Doan and would likely end up overpaying (in money and years) for a guy that will soon turn 36.
