Honestly where is anyone? Why are the refs standing in a huddle in the background and doing nothing?
That's the thing I can't wrap my head around. Win or lose the fight, I would have ran in there and laid into this guy. No way could I just sit or stand there and allow it. Like @Schmoopy1000 said, I would probably be in jail.

So the message here is this kid is going to grow up and think it's ok to hit anybody. Any update if law enforcement may/will get involved?

They are not his kids, the kid's parents were defending the coach too.

welp clearly they do that exact behavior at home then.

Coach should be fired (which he was) and arrested for child abuse! As should the parents!

I coached kids that age through high school over 40 years. I can proudly say that I never called a kid out in front of the team or struck a kid anywhere. I always believe that it was my responsibility to drop to my knees and speak to a child at his levelnd never from a much higher level above him. 85% of my kids went on to play high school football and about half of them played college.

To this day, the parents of those kids and the kids themselves will see me in a grocery store or other place and and called me "Coach Bumpah" because they remember me but not my real name.

"Dropping to your knees" for children might not be the best either. lol

But yeah, you really can't disicpline any kid with anything unless you speak to them in a normal fashion

When you drop down to their height, it's easier for THEM to speak with you and not be scared or in a defensive posture. Plus it tend to take all of the anger out of you because you have five seconds to think rather than react.

I 100% agree with you. I was being a sarcastic prick by making "dropping down" into something "bad"

Child protective services should definitely be investigating and this coach should be arrested. A parent disciplining a kid is fine but this goes way beyond that.

Raised 4 kids. All involved in youth sports. Did some coaching in some. Not in others. Saw this type of stuff. Fistfights between coaches and parents.

I believe a lot of good can come from youth sports but assholes like this put some negativity to it

My comment was sarcastic, my point is how certain things are brushed aside like they are normal....this guy needs to reprimanded regardless of the parent’s approval.....
Reprimanded?
He needs to be chained to a parking meter on Polk St with a jar of vaseline taped to his back........

They weren't his kids, sadly the kid's parents defending the coach
And the coward refs didn't open their mouth.....I would have took a helmet and wedged it into that animal's forehead....What has happened to men in America today, hardly any have any backbone anymore.....It's shameful....:L

Don't worry OS, once the ref took the helmet away from you, I would kindly ask him not to beat you senseless with it. Want you in 1 piece for the holidays!!!

BS appology from him as well

"At the end of the day, I am a man and 'm not gon' make no excuses for what I did. I was wrong. I shouldn't have disciplined him in public - I shoulda waited til he got back- for doing what he did"

SO basically you are saying you would have done (and feel as if you should have) done this behind closed doors and hurt him even more.

The sad thing is this guy would turn right around, sue and probably win the case which is probably why no one does anything anymore. Guy deserves a beat down.
