Pitchers need to stop worrying about complete games, shutouts and anything other than turning the game over to the BP. It is not what we learned 50 or 40 years ago, but it's how they play now.The thing I found interesting in the Mahle game was his 6th inning. He had been sitting around 94 with his fastball most of the night. In the 6th his velocity jumped touching 98 once and 96-97 on others. I think he had an adrenaline rush and that inning drained his tank. It's not uncommon to see a SP drain his tank and throw harder his last inning, but I don't think it was by design for Mahle. I think he just got caught up in the moment of having a no-no working.
Garrett stretching into his 3rd inning of work makes me wonder if the intention was to stretch him out in the event Finnegan continues to struggle.
Well that is the point, isn't it?Maybe sending a fresh arm out in the ninth the night before. Might have given Riggelmen more options last night.
Point when you have only won 3 games in 20+ games, you don't play with a 4 run lead
You said it.Poorly managed baseball coupled with mediocre roster construction usually yields a 5-20 record.
Plenty of Braves fans in Tennessee, east of Nashville. That's a pretty easy trip. There probably are that many every year, you just don't hear them. They only come to Cincy for one series.I don't believe I have ever seen the attendance that low. The 1st 2 games didn't look like there was 2000 fans there. I think the Braves fans saw that after the 1st 2 games they could get as many seats as they wanted and drove up from Atlanta. because it sounded like The Reds were on the road the 3rd and 4th games. I hate to see that things have gotten this bad. Maybe this will force management to take notice
