I understand the claim. It just doesn't seem to comport with reality. The Packers have been consistently very good for the past several years despite having one of the highest paid QBs in the NFL. The Chiefs are very good and have a very highly paid QB.

Yes, hitting gold on a rookie QB that makes an immediate impact does give a team a window to build their team. But every team has to pay that QB after a few years or let them walk and hope to hit it big.

The teams that consistently are good are the ones that keep franchise QBs.

Pete's age is a real thing. And criticizing others for pointing that out is just a form of ad hominem. He's the oldest head coach of all time, not including some short term interims. And one of the coaches that was older than him owned the team.

Pete has been a great coach for us. The greatest in franchise history. But we should also be able to admit that questions about his willingness to adapt his philosophy are not without merit.

It just seems strange to me that you have such a strong conviction that Pete's system is perfectly fine. You seem to think that the problem was Russ I guess.

I don't care about his age per se. I care that he has shown little sign that he's willing to adapt his philosophy.

Which is fine if his philosophy still works. First losing season in quite a while last year.

If 2022 is another losing season he might get fired, or retire. If it's not, he's still a very good coach.

Calling Phil Knight an out of shyster is odd. I get he's a Oregon guy but it's not like he is some Wall Street suit.

Yeah when Allen died I think in his will it stated that the Seahawks couldn't be sold for 5 years... I also think in his will it stated that the Seahawks must be sold after year 5... Thought that is what I heard when J. Clayton was talking about it before he passed away...

Yeah I read it had something to do with the "amount" that the state had to pay for the stadium and that they couldn't be sold till 2027.

Honestly it seems as if they're for the most part pretty hands off. It's not like baseball where there is no salary cap and ownership can open up their wallets to buy players.

It doesn't seem as if there is a ton of clarity on the issue, but I read something in the Seattle Times that said Allen's Trust agreement stipulated that his assets by liquidated 10 years after his death and used to fund his passion projects.

That being said, the franchise probably won't be sold anytime soon but it will be at some point this decade.

You want ownership to let the football guys do football stuff. But you need ownership to involved enough to keep the football guys focused.
