The cowboys suck this year

No way. Jerry fired all the bad coaches last year, brought in a defensive guru and went to the 4-3. You know, made things uncomfortable for everybody. I suspect this thing will turn around any week now or year. Hell, Jerry can't live for ever.

here's a link to their forum. it's big, and they actually do interviews with big wigs in the organization and stuff, too. they're all okay on there. angels fanatics, of course, but they're okay with reasonable fans of other teams, too.

Congrats Rangers!
I was going to rag on Wash but I'll
let it go for another day.

There's plenty to talk about there but lets just bask in the glory of living to fight another day.

I, like you, wanted to see Martin in LF with Gentry in CF (or vice-versa) a lot more. But I am always a little leery of trying to project a full season out of a part time player. Just because he has done well with 220 AB doesn't mean this would maintain for a full season.

But Gentry has been a true bright spot for us all season with his limited opportunities.

I'm a little leery of the additional two hundred ABs that the marginal performer (436ABs versus 240AB to be exact) had.

When it counts ...
Gentry
2 Outs, RISP: 25AB .320 .485 .440 .925
Late & Close: 41AB .293 .453 .439 .892

Murphy
2 Outs, RISP: 58AB .190 .299 .310 .609
Late & Close: 68AB .235 .288 .500 .788

In 240ABs Gentry ... 3.3WAR
In 436ABs Murphy ... 0.2WAR (last year in 457ABs ... 3.5WAR).

Know I'm beating a dead horse over the failure for management to recognize Gentry's value but when a guy can generate within 0.2WAR in two hundred fewer ABs in Murphy's career year ... and then this year generate 3.1WAR more in two hundred fewer ABs ... clearly that is bad decisioning.

Yea ... TEX is going to get to have a tie breaker game vs TBR. But if Gentry had had the PT would the increased WAR he would have generated avoided all this silliness?

as soon as Soto dinged that, I teared up (a little didn't cry)...not just because of Soto....because you knew that was it, we were going to make it.

Honestly, I'd rather face Price than Shields, I realize Shields is in KC of course,
but it seems like we hit better against Price

that's without checking

Hopefully the struggling Price shows, he has had some tough starts in Texas in the past and my fantasy season is over so the Rangers are welcome to not only beat him but thrash his ass.

I'm not convinced he will be gone. He should be, but I don't know.

Are you talking about Murphy? I can't see any way that he is back even if he becomes Reggie Jackson this October.

At the risk of looking beyond tonight ...

I'd have Garza in the bullpen tonight as long guy ...

Garza vs TBR: 78AB .269 .370 .436 .805
Garza vs CLE: 102AB .294 .392 .549 .941 ... ugly

While Ogando is good against TBR ... he's the better match against CLE
Ogando vs TBR: 78AB .218 .299 .346 .645
Ogando vs CLE: 65AB .200 .246 .262 .508 ... nice

I don't want Garza to start against CLE but as long relief ready for tonight vs TBR would be a better matchup.

Both Garza and Ogando will be in the bullpen today if needed.
