Molly is also right up there.
I kinda like Wax Ecstatic, too, but it kinda dips into that late 90s-early 2000s sound that I think most people will forget pretty quickly.

Probably fitting to say Steven Wilsons best song is probably the one that seems the most inspired by Pink Floyd. Feels wrong not to put something from the Guthrie Govan era, though

So is post #19 too fwiw.
i disagree. Blondies Rapture has a different sound and never popped on the street. Rapture is just a sorry disco/pop tune with a rap verse in it, and a trivia question answer. Both rapture and Genius of Love were recorded in 1980 and Genius of love still echoes thru hip hop whereas Rapture was largely ignored by the new genre musically. If anything it opened a door and exposed a different audience to a rap verse, but I wouldnt put it in hip hop or even influential to hip hop and certainly not a foundational stone in hiphop.

Heres a good video of influence on hip hop

Timeless Classic.
They had a few other tunes that would've fit this thread..but this one takes the cake..and it's w/o a doubt their most well known hit.

There's something happening here
But what it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware

I think it's time we stop
Children, what's that sound?
Everybody look, what's going down

There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind

It's time we stop
Hey, what's that sound
Everybody look, what's going down

What a field day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and they carrying signs
Mostly say, "Hooray for our side"

It's time we stop
Hey, what's that sound
Everybody look, what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
Step out of line, the men come and take you away

We better stop
Hey, what's that sound
Everybody look, what's going down

We better stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look, what's going down
You better stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look, what's going down

You better stop
Now, what's that sound?
Everybody look, what's going down
You better stop
Children, what's that sound?
Everybody look, what's going down
