#: 12 Angry Men
A: Amadeus
B: Being John Malkovich
C: Catch Me If You Can
D: The Departed
E: End of Watch
F: The Fugitive (I swear, I watch non-cop movies, too)
G: The Godfather
H: Hoop Dreams
I: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
J: ????????? (My top rated are Jurassic Park and Jaws, but those are only 8s...so I think I'll pass)
K: The King's Speech
L: The Lion King
M: Monty Python and the Holy Grail
N: Nebraska
O: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
P: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
Q: Quiz Show
R: Raiders of the Lock Ark
S: The Social Network
T: Thank You For Smoking
U: Up In The Air
V: V for Vendetta
W: Whiplash
X: X2
Y: ????????? (Only the second letter without a 9 or 10.....no award given. Young Frankenstein is the top)
Z: Zombieland

Runs a little recent, partially because I watch more recent movie (seen at least 50 from every year from 2002 to 2014...seen 3-5 most years pre-1970) and partially because I think movie nostalgia is overrated and recent movies tend to be better. Took straight off a list, so there is no "greatness bias" in my memory.

Some great adds.

Hoop Dreams and End of Watch, in particular.

Also, I currently have Holy Grail in "H" and Last Crusade in "L"

My plan is to close H, I and J sometime tomorrow. I am basically counting the entire weekend as 1 day.

R, S and T were opened today. U, V and W will open on Monday, and X, Y, Z and # will open on Tuesday.

This should clear out all the nominations by next Monday, when we will start with the polls. I am open for suggestions if you think it should be handled a different way, though.

I am reviewing how I am going to vote, and I am surprised that I will be voting for a comedy for A, B AND C. I am a bit shocked that I think that highly of comedies.

D, I have no idea where I am going to vote. None of those movies have a "best of all time" feel to them, especially for such a strong group of movies.

E is a no-brainier for me. I don't actually expect that to be too close.

F is between 2 movies for me. I have no clue which I vote for.

G is so super solid. I know where my vote is going, but I would be 100% OK with any of 3 of these winning. I like the other two, but they don't belong with the other 3, IMHO.

Also, I plan on having open voting. I think it will be interesting to see how everyone votes.

As for runoffs, I think a movie will need to have 50% +1 to "win". If, when the poll closes, no movie has 50% +1, then any movie that would end up with 50% if all votes for "lessor" movies went to them will advance to the runoff.

For example, A has 8, B has 7, C has 6, D has 4, E and F both have 3. Since 16 votes would be required to "win", A, B and C would all advance. If C was the second choice of those who voted for D, E and F, than C could still win. No losing because your vote got split (Kill Bill and Godfather).

Not sure how to handle a 3-way tie at the end, though. Ideas?

I think a great comedy that stands the test of time is much more impressive than a drama that does the same.

Movies like Blazing Saddles and Caddyshack...they are just so damn great. Smart and timeless.

Movies are meant to entertain, and laughing is great entertainment.
