Not if it lures LeBron it isn’t.

Taking him in the 2nd isn’t luring LeBron unless they give Bronny a guaranteed deal anyway.

Do you really want to lure Lebron? In the unlikely chance he does decide to leave to play with Bronny, we're talking he opts in for $50M and forces a trade; he's not coming for the vet min. So, you're using your draft capital on a player that isn't ready (and may never be a true rotation option) to get the last year or two of Lebron at $50M+ per (and costing your roster matching salary/picks).

My guess is the Lakers either trade up in the 2nd round or buy an earlier 2nd rounder to get Bronny if they feel someone may draft him before 55.

Yes.

But I draft Bronny, then offer LeBron MLE to call his bluff.

I think there is a greater chance of getting LeBron that way than a pick between 28 and 40 helping a contender in the short term.

Brad trades down from 30 to 33ish (like last year) and does this plus adds a few more future 2s lol

There is no bluff. He's not leaving the Lakers this summer. If Bronny ends up elsewhere, could someone potentially get Lebron for a farewell tour in a few years? Maybe.

...and has one more player on his bench that won't play in the postseason

Probably not.

And what I said is still true.

Anybody picked at 30 in a weak draft probably isnt helping that team.

So take Bronny. See if you can convince Bron to join.

Worth a shot. Very little risk.

MLE isn't going to happen regardless. You'd need $50M in cap and/or salaries you're willing to move (and multiple picks if those salaries are crap).

And like I said, I am trying it anyway if I think LeBron is the missing piece.

Make him make a decision.

Don’t let the Lakers draft him at the end of the 2nd round.

I think the most you'll get out of it is a forced trade from the Lakers for Bronny. Still worth a shot I guess?

Exactly. In a draft as weak as this one appears to be...you could even justify taking Bronny late in the 1st round...you just better be reasonably sure that you can get Lebron.

If you get him, worst case is that your team gets a license to print money for a couple of seasons.

Best case...your team wins a title and you get a license to print money for a couple of seasons.

Meh. Up to him and the team that gets him.

First step is just getting there, regardless of how you do it.

There's something to work with there. But that heart issue really stunted his development.

Hopefully, he has his Dads work ethic and goes to a team that will truly try to develop him.

If that happens, he has a shot at being a solid rotational player.

If he goes to a team just using him to lure Lebron or he doesn't have his Dads work ethic...he'll be out of the league about 5 minutes after Lebron retires.

I don't see it.

Hopefully he proves me wrong.

Lakers might consider him at that juncture as a legacy of sorts for the end of the bench, who knows.

Hopefully his career goes better than that, but it's anyone's guess at this point.

He showed it in spurts during the season. He made a few of those "Did you see that?" plays and he has a high basketball i.q.

As @The Q pointed out, USC was a bit of a mess this past season and he was playing "catch up" all season because of the heart issue. It was hard for him to get consistent enough minutes to show much.

Yeah, if the Lakers take him, hopefully they will have him play in the G-League as much as possible. He needs time on the court that he's unlikely to get with the Lakers or on any NBA team.
