To begin the offsrason i thought there was a path to be taken that would not require us to lose any top 20 prospects. So far we have taken that path, with the exception of Englert. I knew there was a lot of chatter rhar we would not take that path though.
If Winn produces perhaps that will take some of the sting away

I wouldn’t mind Michael Brantley.. his barrel %, avg exit velocity & walk rate were actually trending higher last year. Very good pure hitter w/ great OBP
With him, benintendi, Profar, Conforto, Drury, Mancini, Gallo & Peralta and maybe even grossman still out there I don’t blame the Rangers wait and see approach.. maybe they can nab one pretty cheap.

Do you guys have any particular players you personally expect to outperform most expectations next year?
JMO, I think Gray will pitch 160-170 innings with an ERA around 3.50, Garver hits .265, 20 HRs and a 780 OPS.
Also think Odorizzi has a good season, 150 innings, ERA around 4.05 and a 3.80 FIP, performance about like Gray last year.

I’m thinking Leody can hit .270/.330 with 30 doubles, 15 HRs 25 SB and good all around CF defense. Putting up 4 WAR and looking very valuable.
Pitcher side.. I think Hearn comes in and does a great job doing what Burke & Moore did last year.. multi inning relief. I could see him throwing 70 innings of 2.65-3.20 ERA and being a key piece.
SP wise.. I’ll go with Heaney.. I think he can throw 140 innings of 3.20 ERA ball and be very important for us

That would be great if Leody had a year like that. Agree about Hearn.
His fastball is nasty and he has looked consistently good as a multi-inning reliever.
Fangraphs seems to think highly of Heaney and all of the secondary stats seem to indicate he has the stuff to replicate last year as long as he doesn't get taken by the long ball too much.
Health is the key, though. Need Healthy Heaney, not Hurting Heaney, lol.

He would be great, Brantley, semien, seager, Lowe, garcia, heim or garver is pretty formidable lineup

This is the latest I could find...

No real chatter about Peralta so I'm assuming no real interest...

From Jeff Wilson about Heaney:

He was introduced to the media Thursday at Globe Life Field, minus the fanfare of the Jacob deGrom intro. But for those scoring at home, Heaney spoke longer.

One of the first things he said was that he chose the Rangers because they told him how they could help him be a better pitcher. That was the same sort of thing right-hander Jon Gray said last year when he signed his four-year contract.

For Gray, the Rangers changed the grip on his slider. It was a small change, but Gray believes it made him a better pitcher.

Heaney would like to be less reliant on the strikeout, though that would still be a big weapon for him. But he wants to be more efficient by getting outs early in counts.

That’s where the Rangers come in.

Heaney piled up 13.62 strikeouts per nine innings last season with a fastball and a slider. He walked only 19 batters in 72 2/3 innings, and his ability to pitch with his fastball will be a nice fit with pitching coach Mike Maddux.

Heaney thinks his changeup could help him get out of innings with fewer pitches and work deeper into games.

“We just got a tour of the place and understand the facilities and the instruments and abilities of all people here to help me do that,” he said. “I’m excited to get to work.”

Also from Jeff Wilson:

International signing

The final day of the 2022 international signing period arrived Thursday, and the Rangers got one in at the wire.

They signing Cuban catcher Danell Figueroa for $100,000. The 18-year-old defected from Cuba in March.

A Rangers official described Figueroa as a strong-bodied defense-minded catcher, but he isn’t just all glove. He has good bat-to-ball skills and above-average power.

Figueroa is the last of a class that includes outfielders Anthony Gutierrez and Jose de Jesus. The Rangers thought that Gutierrez was one of the three best players in the class, and he is regarded as one of their top 20 prospects.

The next international signing period begins Jan. 15. The Rangers have been linked to Bahamian shortstop Sebastian Walcott, who is already 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds. He is expected to get around $3 million.

I like hearing what other offers were. This is one of several examples we've had this offseason.

Also the same thing we've been sold about Spender Howard.

Not that the Rangers can't do it, but at some point you just have to accept that a guy sucks.

Martin Perez
Josh Smith
Jake Odorizzi
Ezequiel Duran
Mason Englert(for the Tigers)

In the minors, I fully expect Blaine Crim to have an OPS of close to .900 or better for Round Rock. Of course, the media folks will never buy into what he is doing and neither will those media-types loyal followers.

This reminded me of the year Mitch Moreland came up. I had asked Evan Grant several times about when Moreland might be brought up. To paraphrase, he pretty much said Moreland wasn't good enough to come up, despite putting up good numbers. Within a day or two of Moreland coming up, Evan told me it wouldn't be any time soon. Lol

From 1974. The Rangers Lenny Randle didn't care for the previous pitch. This led to the infamous 10 cent beer night fiasco in Cleveland.
