So what will Manning do next, retire or sign with the Rams?

I for one like the rest, hope he retires. But if someone ponies up the money he keep playing I can imagine.

What does he have left to prove? Why not go out on top?

If Peyton tries to play another year, I'll be absolutely shocked. I think 98% of people believe he retires.

The Rams would be silly to offer Manning a contract of any kind....39 y/o going on 49...shut it down bro and live to walk down the isle with your daughter or play golf man...it ain't worth playing another season.

Beat Brady in a SB

If that happened, the entire internet would explode. The world could not handle that. And remember, Peyton and Eli promised they wouldn't play in the same conference so they wouldn't have to compete against each other for a SB appearance.

I'd have to dig for it, but there was an interview during Peyton's free agent frenzy where he admitted that he and Eli had talked before Eli came in the league about it. You know that's the true reason that the Rivers and Eli trade happened.

Is that true? I always wondered why that happened

I'm digging, but I can't find any quotes. But it's pretty obvious if you think about it. I'm surprised that I can't find it though. I remember the interview on NFL Network.

Whatever he decides to do, I doubt that money plays a role. Not only does he already have a fortune, but he can also earn a lot more in various ways.

My guess is that over 90% of fans think he will retire from playing. I'm not so sure. I know that when he signed his five year deal he spoke about how much he wanted to play for the full five years.

I think it's only about 50/50 that his NFL playing career is over.

"I think Peyton’s done in Denver,” Archie Manning told Jeff Darlington of NFL Media. “I think Peyton’s done in Denver. He may be done everywhere. So that’s my — you know what? I don’t stick my nose in it, so I don’t know that. I don’t know that. But that’s my guess.”

It's just hard to believe he'll be back. Once he sits back and really watches himself on film, he'll probably see what we see and be honest with himself and avoid the embarrassment. This isn't the same situation as Favre. Favre was still playing well and wasn't injured.

Just remember, it'll be Peyton Manning circa 2016, not Peyton Manning circa 2006 that will be in your imaginations.

St Louis won't be doing themselves any favors to bring in a 40-year-old QB to kick off their inaugural season, part deux. They don't really need a publicity stunt. It's LA.
