posted over on the espn board anyone chime in?

as long as everyone stays healthy and they dont have to trade anyone important away

it will be either the devils or pens for the atlantic....that said i agree its ECF or bust anything less then that is an EPIC FAIL this year!

i will say this kovalchuk will be the first devil to hit 50 goals and he will do it on tuesday april 5th against sid and the pens on national tv!

parise will finish 44-60-104!

I think the Devils and Flyers will fight for the Atlantic. I also believe that the Caps, Pens, Flyers, Bruins, Devs and Sabres all have about an equal shot at coming out of the east, so I definitely wouldn't see losing to any of those teams in the second round as a failure.

I thought we has one of these on this board cause i remember posting my record prediction but screw it I'll do it again.

Record: 52-23-7

Kovy: 51-61-112

Parise: 41-48-89

Zajac: 27-68-95

Brodeur: 42-19-6

Hedberg: 10-4-1

This is of course if everything falls the way it should and no one important gets hurt

I won't lie, I think there is a ton of pressure on Zajac this year. He's being asked to hold his own on a line with 2 superstars (assuming they stay together all year), and continue to progress into our top 3. We can't be relying on Elias and Langs for too much longer so he needs to take that next step to becoming a go to guy on this team. He also hasn't shown up in the playoffs yet, but then again few on the team have.

This team has me more excited than I have been in a while. Worlds of potential for this team to be special. 3 legit lines, plugged some holes on D, legit backup goalie hopefully getting Marty some rest and a bonafide superstar offensive player to take pressure of Parise, which will only make him better. I agree with Cup, anything less than ECF barring a major injury to a key player, is a FAIL

Also looks like a high number for Kovy on the assist end. I think Zach will pile up more of those than Kovy , nut that line should be dynamite.

bruins? sabres? if the devils lost to them in the playoffs this team should be ashamed! i dont even think the bruins make the top 8 this year. the sabres outside of miller have nothing!

you dont go out and spend 100 million on a superstar to get knocked out in the 1st or 2nd round....like i said anything less then ECF is a fail

What if Pittsburgh and the Devils finish 4,5 and the Devils lose to the Pens in 7? Making predictions and proclamations in October is silly.

I think those numbers are all a little too high.

Expecting Zajac, as good as he is to make a 30 point jump is too much to ask.

Kovy has maxed at 98pts. 14 more is a lot.

I think your Parise numbers are right on the money.

I guess those figures are possible, but it would take an "all-time" effort for 6 months for them to reach those numbers.

The biggest hurdle is that J-mac will make them play defense and they aren't going to play 22 minutes a night, and shouldn't.

My prediction is that if the Devils don't get Kaberle and don't hold Brodeur accountable for bad games then this team is going nowhere.
