$45M guaranteed.
Never had a winning season in the NFL. 7-9, 8-8. 8-8...in 3 years as starter. 23-25 career record.
63TDs 43 Ints
Worth it?

Don't know how the contract is broken down or worded... don't know if the Dolphins have an easier out like the 49ers do with Kaep.
This is the price of Quarterbacks in the NFL... Thoughts?

Tannehill has been getting better every year. Yes statistically, but much more than that he is rapidly getting better at managing the rush and in picking the right spot to throw. Of the young QBs in the game not named Andrew Luck, I would say he is the best one and could well be on his way to stardom. So in my opinion, he's worth it.

That is answered right off the top in your post. $45M guaranteed! Kap got $25.9M guaranteed. Dolphins are stupid. Just not as stupid as the Bears with Cutler.

The Dolphins just made a business decision on an up and coming QB. They aren't stupid.

he'll never be even remotely close. He will now get $12.5 million per for the next two years (only $7 million more over both years combined than he was already committed for...remember they already picked up his year 5 option), and then it becomes essentially a year-to-year contract with no guaranteed money, but 2017 is for $14.5 million, then $19 million per year in 2018-2020, and by then the franchise tag for QBs will probably be in the high 20's.

This contract is an absolutely fantastic deal for Miami if Tannehill continues growing as he has. Comparing this to Cutler's deal is delusional.
