Relative Power of the Championship Teams

In trying to compare the teams in the two championship series, I looked at the number of position players on each team that had a wRC+ of 100 or more and a WAR stat of 1.0 or greater, plus the team records, runs, ERA, and quality starts. For perspective I first looked at the Phillies, a bad 2013 team. I was impressed with the power of the Red Sox who have 11 players with a 100 wRC+ and 11 players with a WAR of 1.0 or more. This makes up for their higher ERA.

If I had done this prior to the start of the playoffs, I would have concluded that the Dodgers would have more trouble beating the Cards than the Tigers would have in beating the Sox. Obviously, the Phillies have quite a bit of work to do next year.

Hey Jvett. I'd take another look at your avatar. I believe that scantily clad cheerleaders, even though they are apart of sports, are not exactly the thing you want. These are google's rules who pays the bills. Your avi is not bad but rather than invite the wrath of ownership, stick with a sports-centered avatar. And I am not ragging on ya here. Just making a suggestion that may help in the long run.

Knew I couldn't get away with it for long. I thought it was great avatar for the football season.

The only thing the Phillies have going for them are the quality starts, and a lot of them came from Cole Hamels and Cliff Lee(that's how great they were this season) - the ERA is so high because everyone after those two were god awful, if they get more pitching depth in the rotation it will certainly help

But of course the Phillies need more offense - I don't think you need advanced stats to figure out the Phillies are terrible offensively and need serious help in that department
