Recommend a Quality Obscure Movie, That Most People Have Not Seen

Best 'obscure' movie of the past decade or so on my list:


A gritty crime drama w/o all of the 'over the top' action/chase stuff.

That looks interesting. I'm picking that one up.

I could probably name ones that are more obscure but I'll do that later in the thread. For now I'm gonna mention "Putney Swope". And it's on youtube in its entirety I think. Anyone that has ever seen "Johnny Be Good" will also recognize it as the movie playing at the drive-in early in the movie (a movie whose cast includes Robert Downey Jr., whose father directed "Swope").

saw one called "Hot Lunch" once. Never, never, ever, watch that movie. NEVER. There are scenes that still haunt me. It was seriously one of those "I can't unsee that" moments.

My mom hated my dad for playing "Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia" with the family kitten.

Every night, the little Persian kitty would jump onto the bed. Then my dad would pick the kitty up, bring his knees together, whisper to the cat "Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia!" and toss the kitty over his knees to the other end of the bed. The kitten would always come racing back and this game would go on forever.

The kitty later grew up to be the meanest, ill-tempered little son of a bitch you'd ever lay eyes on. My mom of course blamed it on the game and never really forgave dad for that one.

I think it was Comedy Central, I remember I was watching Chappelle's Show and making dinner and it came on afterwards, so it was either that or BET. But I think they're probably both in a similar number of households.
