We need a RB and I believe well take one early. Maybe with the first pick even, if things fall that way. If all the pass rushing specialists are off the board I would not be against getting the top RB with our pick. I know many would be shocked but a really good RB would be a huge addition and help in many area's. Fox wants to get the ball out of Cutlers hands as much as possible. Well go RB in the first 3 rounds. Were not fixing this Def in one draft but if we go WR RB OL with the first 3 picks we could be a real threat on one side of the ball. PS. ice out is here and I am back on the walleye kill. First day results. Limited in 2 hours.

I kind of like the Carey kid from last year. No need to pick another one in my opinion. Especially considering Forte isn't going anywhere this year. We can wait a year.

I will be totally stunned if we draft a RB with the #7 pick.

Somewhat shocked sure, but if all the guys we wanted are gone I would be ok with it. RB is important in football that has not changed. Cutler would benefit the most. Forte is baulking about a new contract and could be a draft day trade. I love MF but we need a pounder of men. A Lacy type to wear people down. Really our biggest bang for our buck would be a RB. IDK but it could happen.

If it was an Adrian Petersen-grade back, I might agree with this, because then it would be a BPA pick. But I haven't heard any such rumors about any of the RB prospects. Even if Forte is traded, which is pretty unlikely, I would be pretty surprised if we used #7 on an RB.

Recent #7 and above RB draft history:

2012, #3, Trent Richardson (OOPS!)
2008, #4, Darren McFadden
2007, #7, Adrian Peterson
2006, #2, Reggie Bush

That's it in the last ten years. Only Peterson truly justified that pick, although if McFadden had been healthier during his career he could have been.

Do you realize how dumb it would due to draft a RB at #7 overall, when you could get the same back with our 2nd pick at #39 overall?

RB's value is gone in this league. They do not go in the first round anymore, much less at #7. That's like paying twenty dollars for a five dollar meal. It just doesn't make any sense. You're going out of your way to hurt yourself.

The biggest bang for our buck is getting a RB? Shelling out top ten overall money to a position that is seeing it's stock plummet each season? That's completely nuts, I'm sorry.

Not to mention, RB's are a product of their system nowadays. You don't need a guy to pound 30 times per game anymore. That day is over.

IMO, there isn't a position in football right now that is easier to find than a RB. New England has been proving it for years. You don't need a superstar. You need a group of guys that are dependable. You need a solid runner, and you need a guy who can catch passes and pass block for 3rd downs. If you have a guy who can do both, than great.

If your QB and O-line play well, your RB is going to run well. There is absolutely no point in wasting a high draft pick on a RB in this day and age.

I really don't expect the Bears to take a RB. The team has urgent needs that have to be addressed before they think about drafting a RB.

I think you guys are undervaluing the RB position altogether. Only a few teams with elite QBs win without a strong run game. For us with a bad QB a top run game would help this team more then any def player. While I don't expect a RB in round one, I do expect one in the first 3 rounds. Football is about ball control and always will be.

I highly doubt the Bears draft a RB. As I stated previously, they have just too many other needs to fill before considering upgrading the RB position.

I will say this to back up what Noon is mentioning. Someone else feels the same way given what he has had in the past and that is Fox. Fox does like a big power back. Now I am not sure I can see it with pick 7 but in the 3rd or 4th, it could happen.

I.m not personally after a RB but do believe Fox is. I don't think it will be with a first. RB value is not dead and never will be. And a top RB to get our run game moving would affect the team on a whole and be the biggest bang for our buck. Fox clearly has a MO and a power back is in our future.

Rich is looking at it from a fans perspective and he is not wrong. But I believe Fox is looking at it differently.

Forte didnt show for voluntary team workouts yet. There are still some nice players left in free agency, from Stephen Jackson, Ahmad Bradshaw, Chris Johnson, Moreno, even Ronnie Brown and Pierre Thomas are still available.

I like Stephen Jacksons punishing running style. These are all guys that will probably be signed when teams dont get to draft their running back. Some still want to get paid, some will allow reality to set in and know its over 30 and take the two million.

I wont be surprised if they take a late round running back, If BPA happens then we might get one that can also return punts.

Your two cents is worth $37.50 to me my good man. But Fox has a history and if he holds to that script we'll see a RB draft day.

I agree...... they will not take a RB in the first Rd with the 7th pick. PERIOD.
