Pulling Pax was absolutely stupid. Taking your best weapon, and arguably one of the best weapons in the AL right now, and just fold your hand. Sure, he had a long and frustrating 5th, but aces find a way out AND can still gut out another behind it.

I don't know if they are treating him like a fragile egg because of his prior injury history or maybe he told them he was tight or something, but you can't take your big dog out and turn it over to a still somewhat suspect pen for that many innings.

Really piss poor decision IMO.

Chance to catch the Astros 2 nights in a row and the bullpen blows chucks against one of the worst teams in the league. Ugh...
I was tracking the Stros in NY and figured we MIGHT tie for 1st and then go a game ahead of the Stros with a W Wednesday night. Not happening though. Most were talking all this positive stuff about the M's and then the shit hit the fan, like it usually does with the M's and many of us revert back to the negative stuff about Dip and Serv. When the M's perform as bad as they did against one of the worse teams in the league it's gotta tell us something. We got guys on base but couldn't get them plated. Servais handling of the pen was so much like last year. Like I had said in an earlier post, I'll wait till the AS break before I break out with the happy dance.:heh:

Paxton at 90 pitches or Altavilla? Is there really a debate?

Again, the only thing we don't know is how he responded in the dugout between innings. He has been a bit of a mental case and more fragile than you like out of a guy you want to call your ace. If there wasn't some concern for his arm or back then it was the worst coaching job this year.

I doubt they do something as drastic as a Strasburg kind of thing, but I could see them trying to find ways to reduce his load here and there out of concern.

... and why do we keep running Rumplestilskien out there with a whopping 9.39 era? We've pitched him in 18 games and he's just horrible... Helk, Taylor Motter has a better ERA than him if that tells you anything...

I have never been a fan of scrabble. Why Scott continues to put him in precarious positions and then not pulling him when it's obvious he doesn't have the stuff we need just reflects to me Servais's difficulties with managing the pitching staff.

Pulling Paxton at under 90 pitches after 5.

Servais said that the last innings were stress pitches on Paxton so that is why. I have never understood the difference to your arm because of a pitching situation but that is a modern thing.

I think it is a modern "spin" thing. :bullshit:

He's used that logic before and it seems to burn him more often then not. He was just fine getting his last three hitters out. There's no harm in letting him start the inning with someone warming up.

With the line up we have going tonight, AND if Wade has a half ways decent outing, AND if the offense can move players around the bases, we should (might) be able to put up a W. Houston has 4 games with Boston before we see them for a couple next week. If we can scratch out a few W's going forward and Boston slams the Stros we could still reach the top for maybe more at least 1 day? Fingers crossed. :noidea:

Yes, but you don't, in Felix's case, let him load the bases with no outs and then take him out. :nono::nono::nono:

The thing I just noticed with Segura scoring on that SF is I don't see anyone in baseball doing the old sending the guy to 2B to get thrown out and letting the run score anymore. It was like a trendier two or three years where the offense would sacrifice an out so the defense would cut it off. I hated that play.

Oh joy. Another game with 4 innings expected from the bullpen. What can go wrong? :noidea:

Blowpen enters in the 6th after only 84 pitches by starter...ya that's about right.
