Both.

I workout, take a protein shake (a healthy one). Serving size is 34g---protein is about 30g. I think 1g of sugar. Than I eat meat, so I get a lot of protein. It is Whey Protein Isolate, I did take the Muscle Milk (way too much fat, wasn't healthy).

I have used whey during seasons after hard workouts just because i know I was way overextended, but just for training I may use it in a shake like once a week but usually I just munch on seeds and nuts all day and try and have some form of protein for two of three meals (lunch, dinner usually). I also LOVE cottage cheese.

In all seriousness I never saw the point. If you eat healthy and get enough protein, I'm not sure a little extra right before/after a workout is all that beneficial.

From what I have been told by a couple nutritionists, sugar after to immediately start the rebuilding is as valuable. Their advice to me was always chocolate milk right after. It still has the protein but also the carbs to immediately be put to use.

I have heard the same but with peanut butter. It has good fats as well which you really need to build up and avoid injury.

Peanut butter I used a lot too. I'd literally go through 2-3 gallons of milk and a tub of peanut butter a day when I used to wrestle.

Seriously though, fill your kitchen with nuts and seeds of different sorts....sooooo good for you. Get the Unsalted and season yourself and you will usually use a lot less salt too.

(Except coconut lime cashews, those are so good from Target)

I fucking hate cashews. Pretty much everything else I'm a fan of though.

Good (healthy) stuff!

I just bought 2 two gallon things of that the other day on Amazon. It was $37 for 4 pounds. I went to HealthSmart and it was like $40-$50 for 2 pounds.

Amazon is amazing!

also for me i need something very pure, i want whey protein, but im lactose intolerant. So i need a super pure whey isolate, that leaves few options, I found this and isopure, isopure has lots of vitamins in it that i dont want or need, and is expensive as heck

I have tried casein, soy, egg dont like them

does anyone partake
Yes, I used to workout hard (lifting) w/ serious amateur bodybuilders who had a personal trainer who once trained pros. The easiest answer is that you take a whey protein shake w/i a half hour after lifting. Makes a significant difference in pretty short order if you're lifting pretty seriously.

see i have heard varying things, that its 30 min-1 hr, and that the effects are the same within 24 hours
