Finally. We even the series and head into tomorrow with a chance to take the series and put the Mets in the cellar. We are still 11 under .500. We shall see.

These New York announcers are discussing the Howard debacle and Amaro trying to get rid of him and then the strategy that freezes out Ruf by playing Howard everyday that Sandberg was apparently told to do at the expense of both Ruf and Franco. It is an interesting discussion but nothing we haven't discussed here on the Phillies board.

If Amaro wans to trade Howard he better hope he does not get hurt. For that reason alone he should rest him more.

Northeast, the announcers were stating that one of the reasons Amaro ordered Sandberg to play Howard everyday was a futile strategy to get Howard's numbers up so he would be appealing to some American League team looking for a DH at $60 mil.

Amaro's thinking (and I use that term loosely) is that an American League team would want to sign Howard in September or in the off-season for his services in that capacity and perhaps Amaro learned his lesson by asking for the moon for many of the players that killed trades of players back before the trade deadline. Amaro promises he won't do that with Howard this time but nobody is buying it.

Whether all of this comes to fruition remains to be seen but Amaro claims he is doing everything he knows how to get somebody interested in Howard to want to sign him. I find this a bunch of hooey because all Boobens is stating publically is that he screwed-up initially by becoming sentimental as a GM (which you never do as a GM if you want to keep a club from getting old together) and signed Howard to a ridiculous albatross of a contract in the first place along with Rollins, Utley, and to some degree Ruiz.

Everyone knows dumbass Boobens is admitting he is a hole and he doesn't know how to get out and he is hoping somebody will step up and make him look like a genius which he really believes about himself. Freakin' idiot!

Sizemore starts in right field today while Byrd gets a rest. Brown stays in left. I hope Burnett brings his A game today.

Burnett has stated he found something in his leg movement that was causing his pitching to be sporadic. It looks like whatever it was, he has really become much more direct and his pitching has really improved. No score going into the fourth.

There is Burnett's 1-2-3 side of the afternoon and since his discovery has become a way better pitcher in the rotation for us.

Rollins is safe at second with the Utley hit and Howard has RBI number 85 with that deep right field hit. Howard looks terrible at running and sliding and Boobens is insane to think this guy is going to viable the next two years. Rollins scores and we are on the board first.

Gee gives up a walk to Sizemore and Dom Brown is 2 for 2 with that hit into left field. The bases are juiced. This looks like what happened last night. Nieves is up with just one down. WE could do some serious run damage here.

Burnett has 5Ks already and he is cruising. He looks way better than the old sporadic, crappy Burnett.

Asche misses on that one-handed attempt. He'll get there.

Revere has another single base hit. That's number 151. Now he has a chance at another stolen base, number 40.

Wow! Revere gets number 40 and because of errant throws at second and third almost gets home. Rollins gets hammerd at the plate and all that work by Revere is for naught.

With this new Burnett, he might be a keeper. And maybe not.

den Dekker has a double and that drives a run home. The stolen base was the start of it. Burnett and Nieves were caught snoozing.

Damn it! Burnett serves up an up-the-middle base hit and the Mets take the lead. This all started with Nieves missing the throw on the steal. We continue to screw ourselves with bullshit play and we have done this all year.

That's better. Howard hits a solo HR. That's number 20. Game is tied.
