You can never have too many knives.
Normally, it's never a good thing when a player is injured, but I think in this case it helps the Dbacks. Although he was looking pretty good so far in early spring, he was still a long shot to make the roster. Being a rule 5 pick means he has to stay on the 25 man roster for 2015 or be shipped back to TB. However, you can be on the DL & can go to the minors for a few weeks to rehab. This likely helps us keep him with the team for the season. Or at least gives 2-3 months more of evaluation on him.
The guy is an average hitter who has never been above A+ in the minors. But he has elite defense, arm & pitch framing. If we some how keep him with the team for 2015, he can spend 2016 in AAA getting his hitting together. I think he could be a perfect compliment to O'Brien if they both work out.
