I know that was my first thought.

Unfortunately the current commissioner of the NHL doesn't feel CTE is an issue in the NHL. The league is bringing in billions of dollars in revenue every year yet does very little to help players post playing career with injuries incurred helping make that NHL revenue.

Guess who continues to be a coont

Also, it should be pointed out that Oilers fans celebrated Connor Brown's first goal of this season (which occurred a few days ago in March) with a standing ovation.

It was a really important goal as well, the 7th goal in a 7-2 win for the Oil over the Caps.

Teams can now challenge high sticking penalties - for friendly fire
And puck over glass penalties for deflections.

That had better be damned sure though... If you are wrong it's a 5 on 3.

So they're basically admitting that the officials (both referees and linesmen) make mistakes and coaches can challenge - A coach should also be able to challenge for a missed penalty call just like a coach can currently challenge for a missed stoppage of play. One per game, we don't need to go crazy here.

He was named captain 34 days ago

We sent him (in the form of a draft pick), Nick Cousins (in the form of a draft pick) and Jake Voracek in his prime for Jeff Carter.

Then traded Carter for Jack Johnson.

We lost Johnson for nothing.

Gotta be the worst trade tree in hockey history.

Preds extend point streak to 15. Record of 13-0-2

Shockingly they have been behind on the scoreboard a total of 16 minutes during those 15 games.

Is the Central Division the best division in the NHL? Winnipeg goes into MSG and beats the Rags tonight, Colorado looking pretty good these days, Dallas still right there and then you have the red hot Preds.

I would agree. Outside of VCR the West is not great. The Metro has generally been meh and the Atlantic has BOS, FLA and a bun of dreck.

So naturally the Cup Final will be DET-LAK :thumb:

You know that Allan Walsh will never hesitate to take a shot at Gary Bettman. He is absolutely correct though, Gary doesn't believe CTE is an issue, yet all you need to do is look at guys like Rick Rypien, Derek Boogaard, and Chris Simon to recognize the traumatic effects of CTE.

The NHL Board of Governors/owners have the power to fire Bettman, but they probably like the fact that he is there to take all the slings and arrows while at the same time lining their pockets. He (Bettman) doesn't have the decency to retire even though he's been an abject failure over the past 10 years or so at his job.
