What are the M's to do if Franklin finishes out the season decent. I'd think Franklin would have more trade value than Ackley at that point and whoever the new GM will be will have a tough decision on which to trade.

I wouldnt trade nick franklin if he finishes the season pretty well it actually defeats the purpose of what were doing, whats the point of drafting these players if were going to trade them once they make it to the big leagues

Ryan is a free agent after the season, so, I doubt if Franklin or Ackley get traded unless the get an offer they can't refuse.

Also, I think all trading will be suspended this fall until they decide whether to extend Jack or let him go.

I don't think trading Franklin is a good idea especially if he does well this season.

If Franklin has a decent season why the hell would you trade him? If you ask me that's an asinine thing to do. The Mariners are lacking in young players who actually know how to play.

Im not saying trade Franklin, I just think its unlikely that him and Ackley are both on this team in 3-4 years as they will both be 2nd baseman. Ackley doesnt have the arm for a corner outfield spot or the power to play 1B. He is a 2nd baseman. Franklin doesnt have the range or D for SS so I think he also is a 2B.
My guess is one of them will prove not worthy down the line.
We did already try and trade Franklin once so I am just speculating not hoping.

I think trading Franklin would be dumb as well but, since both play the same spot and most likely aren't a big leaguer at another position one will have to be traded and as of right now (still pending) which would have more trade value?

But ya, I think I do think it will be Ackley because the new GM will not have ties to Ackley or Smoak like Jack does.

And for some reason Ackley is playing LF and CF in Tacoma. Kind of makes no senses to put so much effort into turning him into an OF when its more reasonable to try Franklin at SS. They seem to be high on Miller, but from watching him he seems more suited for 3rd or 2nd as well. Just the way things seem to be shaking out, Seager, Ackley and one of the "big 3" could be shopped for an upgrade in the OF.

I went to 3 of the 4 games when the Rainiers where in Vegas and I noticed that they had Ackley in the outfield. I actually don't think it will take much effort to turn him into an outfielder, he is familiar with the position and I think the transition will be easy for him. I do think they should let Franklin get a few starts at SS just to test it out.

Just curious why you think Seager could or should be a trade candidate? In order to make room for a 3rd base prospect?

I agree with you on Miller, I like his bat but I have very little confidence in him to be able to play SS at the MLB level. From what I have seen of him his defense is below average at SS.
