I guarantee you if they let Firestone, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Michelin, and Continental in, Goodyear tires would suddenly get better. But then Goodyear and NASCAR would have to stop sleeping together.

Other than Jimmie, there hasn't been any real tire issues today, and I'm willing to bet that despite Jimmie's interview, Chad Gnaus elected to start the race with lower than recommended pressure.

The only race where tires were a huge issue this season was Fontana, and Fontana's old, rough surface had a lot to do with it.

Goodyear ultimately defeated Hoosier in the NASCAR tire war of the late 80's, and all in all you can't really complain about Goodyear's tires over the years. Yeah, there's been some races where there have been issues, but I wouldn't pick this race as one to complain about tire quality.

No I am not using this race as a forum to pick on Goodyear. I have been watching NASCAR for over 50years. I have been bitching at NASCAR for a lot of years beginning around the years after Dodge left the first time when Goodyear tire failures started to rapidly increase. Then when something happens like this with Jimmie, I get on my soapbox again.
