Not only elite pitching in playoffs, but well scouted pitching. Going back to 2001 when we won 116 we got beat good against a team because they could plan for us both against our pitching and against our hitters. Weaknesses are heavily exploited in a playoff series.

Mariners outfielder Kyle Lewis was optioned to Tacoma on Aug. 10, but he has yet to be appear in a game or be placed on the lineup card for the Rainiers.

Hoping to see Julio having better at bats. He's been chasing outside the zone a lot more the last few games. Haniger hopefully starts to add some doubles and HRs to his singles. Winker was good last series, let's see if that continues. Hopefully the early offense continues rather than ending a no-no in the 6th and winning in the 8th.

Should be a series win at the very least. A sweep should be within reach.

ford is more athletic..and could play a diff position....i thnk his bat is improving already...and playing at least 2 positions as a back up catcher...is what you want....more versatility..

backup catchers play about half the time..depending...ford is the type....you would like to get in there..a bit more...

Wrote this team off in June. Flat out wrote them off. Called 2021 season a fluke because of an above-average bullpen keeping them out of hot water. This year they were 29-39 on June 19th. My criticism at that time seemed justified.

Since June 19th they have gone 36-15. That's a 2001esque run. I'm completely stunned and happily humbled. As of right now, they have the 3rd best winning percentage in the AL. And, they could even catch the fading Yankees.

I hate to be hopeful because this team always finds a way to disappoint. But, fuck it, I'm hopeful.

FWIW they have somewhere between a 70% and 90% chance of making the playoffs depending on which site you are looking at.

Means lots of reasons to be onboard, but the flip side is they still have a 10% to 30% chance to fuck it up. Can't blame anyone for not going fully on since they have disappointed us so many times in the past. But I'm fully in.

I was about to jump ship before they got that 14 game streak and ended up staying fully engaged.

I still wish they would have picked up at least one more bat at the deadline, but I'm strapped in and ready for the stretch run.
