Texbook on walking the 8 hitter with 1 out and the pitcher at the plate. Dusty finally gets in right, and walked him. Bases loaded, No score. Lost 2 fames last week not playing situational defense 101. Maybe Dusty has learned.

The only run was on the triple after 3 consecutive high school curveballs and Brinsons error. Both teams equally futile at the plate, the difference is buffoonery. It ain't over.

6 hits in 16 innings. Hell of a hitting Coach we got there. I am more concerned about a certain idiot who is the head coach and who continues to ignore the fact that his hitting coach sucks. It like a fucking conspiracy man!

I agree the Parrots ain't so hot at the plate but I would rather not give much of a damn about them. Getting 3 hits in 6 innings every single game is not going to sell me on this team. Get the lefties out and the rest of the lineup is toast.

I mean, it sucks when the best offense you have is a fruckin' squeeze play.

Our offense isn't offensive enough. The trouble with playing in a small park is people are always expecting homers. The bases are all 90 feet away, on the road or at home, in every park-regardless if CF is 300 or 500 feet from the plate. Just gotta get them on. Then get them over. Then get them in. We don't get them on that great, and were worse at getting them over. We get them in a lot, when they do it themselves with a solo homer.

Missing a step... Step one- getting them on. Maybe that's Jacoby. Getting them over badly- is Dusty. The quickest fix is to hit homers. It's the path most desired by a coaching staff that can't get them on or over. Maybe we should move the fence in some more.

Maybe pull the fence in to say, 200 feet. You could cut payroll because you wouldn't need any outfielders. ERAs would be rough, but fans would be happy because lots of homers, and Dusty would never be asked why he never steals. It's an idea.

When you depend on Votto and Bruce to drive in 60 percent of the runs, it stands to reason that the nights they go 1-9 ... there isn't much else going on.

Last night, the RailCats got a run on a walk and three consecutive HBP.
Just sayin' ... as tedious as small ball can be, it does have some upside.
Better than having 4 LOB for the entire game.

Where has BP been ? Silent as a mouse. Maybe he isn't over the HBP. The arm is ok, but his swag is fractured ?

Extra innings. Dusty's fav. No position players left in the 10th, and LeCure, Hoover, Parra, and Parch to take us home. I hope one of them was a catcher in HS, just in case.

I suppose winning it in the 11th would be all right.

Geez, claw one out. Lucky for the Reds, the Parrots have a worse batting order.
All the same, a win isn't spelled with an L.
Damned Cardinals ...

Parra gets the win. Probably be awhile before we can say that again.

I'd rather be a pessimist and be wrong about it than have to crawl up from the sewer from disappointment.

Parra pitched pretty well, all in all. I think he knows his job is on the line. It's spelled C-I-N-G ....

If Marshall comes back healthy (a big if at this point) Parra gets DFA'd immediately. Have to admit though I didn't know he had the ability to throw 95, as he hit several times last night. I thought maybe the radar gun was malfunctioning.

Parra is an unfortunate pawn in what has turned out to be a flawed chess game. The clusterfluck that denied without opportunity to start, Chapman back to the pen, resulted in a MLB 7 figure contract for Parra. Even GMs with managers that refuse to support the game plan they paid for, still try to get their money's worth... So Parra was (and may still be) afforded the opportunity to prove the GM isn't a chump. If and when that fails, only keeping him into add to blowout losses will prove him a chump... and a roster move will be made. If you can win AND not eat a couple million dollar contract by releasing Parra ( who might get picked up at MLB minimum by the Cardinals just to steal some Reds signs, strategies, etc.) they often choose to keep him and exercise a minor league option on someone else, regardless of better stats. If Parra fails, and Cingrani succeeds, and there is no confidence with Parra and/or without Cingrani, odds are better for Parra being DFA. Marshall enters the equation only if he's back, effective and doing something besides doing the LOOGY function ( remember, Broxton was supposed to do 8th inning setup, not Marshall). The situation is kind of like the mange in a kennel, you can't just treat one dog, everyone gets the medicine when plans fall back to plan B, C , etc. IMO, Walt probably looked at AC as closer and Broxton as a S/U guy as a Dusty forced plan B from the getgo.

Meanwhile, this suck-wind offense demonstrates that even if they manage to make the post-season, it's probably better to concentrate on football. They can bull-shit me all they want about the Pirates pitching ... other than Bruce and an occasional bleeder by Votto, this is a lost cause. And when Bruce goes into a slump again, I think the Western swing is going to be a pretty dismal affair.

Lucky for us ... there is the Cubs.
