Pregame notes from the Seattle Times

Update 5:30 p.m.
As expected, Blake Beavan has been moved to the 60-day disabled list, which opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for Chavez.
The last time Cano didn’t start in back-to-back games was on Aug. 2-3, 2008.
Update 5:24 p.m.
From Cano on his hand: “I feel better than I felt yesterday. Maybe tomorrow. It’s up to the manager.”
Brandon Maurer isn’t going to the DL, he’s being optioned to Class AAA Tacoma, with Endy Chavez replacing him on the 25-man roster. The corresponding 40-man roster move to make room for Chavez has yet to be announced.

I've watched Verlander's last few starts. He was roughed up badly in the last 2. I'm tuning in tonight to see if he can be his old self again against the M's.

The odds are pretty good.

Victor Martinez is unreal so far this year. Be interesting to see the contract he gets in the offseason.

Thank you Smoak for not letting Miller throw that away and still get the out.

Looks like the ump is giving Verlander the inside strike. That will make it tough on the lefties with that running fastball.

Really nice to see Verlander pitching well. I knew the M's were just what he needed to get back on track after his last 2 somewhat disastrous starts.

Seager is the only kid on this team outside of pitching that I have any belief in. Been a fan since seeing his first few games in 2012 after a 5-year hiatus form following the M's at all. At that time, there was ridiculous hype about Ackley, which I am still blown away by. "Higher ceiling" Ackley blah blah blah.

Anyhoo, great to see Seager doing better now, heating up maybe. Leads the team in homers now. Pretty good. Hope he continues to build on this, and eventually gets to a real team someday.

I'm estimating that it will take another 15 games for people to see that the ability of this pitching staff to somehow keep this craptastic team near .500 was a fluke. Amazing that it worked for almost 1/4 of a season, really.

taylor and elias are already showing signs of turning into pumpkins, and they'll be 100% there soon enough.

V-mart showed why he is one of the best right now. 10 pitch battle with Kuma and then nailed his mistake.

Ah Rajai Davis nails one, one of the guys I was hoping the M's would have gone after in the offseason.

Why would M's want him? He still has tread left and won't play for minimum wage. C'mon man, where is your head?

Your right! We wouldn't have room for Xavier Nady had we signed him.
