He told an undercover cop that he was looking to buy like $700,000 worth of pot and coke a week. Over $2,000,000 a month. An agent said Hurd was one of the biggest dealers in all of Chicago dealing with big time drug lords. They're also saying they have a list of some of his clients and there are NFL players on the list, double figures.

He stood to make $5.1 million over the three years of the contract he signed in July.....now he's going to jail......too stupid to realize he was a football away from the penitentiary......

Apparently he was more talk than action -- PFT wrote a nice piece about the action the guy was involved in. Either he was way too ballsy to be a successful dealer, or he was out of his league and an easy target for the feds. Something tells me it's likely option b.

From what I read, he was a pretty big dealer, but was trying to expand further and evidently wasn't smart enough to do so.

We'll see who gets implicated as 'buyers.' I wonder if this is the new thing that we'll be hearing about with NFL players..... Guys using contract money as capital for drug deals. It's certainly happened in the past (Bam Morris comes to mind), but Simpsons case (to a lesser degree) and now Hurd's case makes you wonder about others.

I failed to mention Jamal Lewis, who brokered a deal for a family member before he was an NFL athlete.
