KINGS (21-7-4) at SENATORS (13-14-6)
TV: NHLN-US, FS-W, SNET-E, TVA
Last 10: Los Angeles 6-1-3; Ottawa 4-4-2
Season series: This is the final game of the season series between the Los Angeles Kings and Ottawa Senators. In the first game, the Kings blew a 3-0 lead before Jeff Carter scored 28 seconds into overtime for a 4-3 win. Dustin Brown had two goals.
Big story: Los Angeles looks for its first six-game winning streak since the 2011-12 season. The Kings have given up five goals during the winning streak, and rank first in goals against, giving up fewer than two per game (1.9). The Senators are trying to win consecutive games for the first time since Nov. 7 and 9.
Team scope:
Kings: It doesn't matter who the Kings use in net, the results have been the same. Ben Scrivens (7-2-4, 1.56 goals against average, .943 save percentage) has done a fine job in the absence of Jonathan Quick (groin), but Martin Jones, who has started the last four, has been outstanding, Jones has four wins and two shutouts and has allowed a total of three goals. He made 38 saves in the Kings' 3-1 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday.
"I'm starting to get a little more comfortable out there. I don't think today was my most solid game that I've had, some rebounds here and there. I know there's a lot of work to do, not every game is going to go as good as these last few," Jones said after the game.
Drew Doughty had a goal for the Kings, who were outshot 39-23, and said despite the win, the team can play better.
"Tonight was [the] worst game we've played as a team in a little while and we still pulled off the win. It just shows no matter what, we're just going to try and get those two points even though we're not satisfied how we're playing," he said.
Senators: Ottawa beat the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 on Thursday with goals from Bobby Ryan and Zach Smith and a big game from Craig Anderson, who had 40 saves, including 17 in the third period.
"I thought our goaltender obviously made a conscious decision that he was going to be competitive and give us a chance to win," coach Paul MacLean said. "We gotta keep collecting points. We gotta keep finding a way to win games. We have home games here against some difficult opponents."
After the Kings, the Senators face the St. Louis Blues on Dec. 16.
"We did the little things that created us an opportunity to win the hockey game," said Anderson, who had given up four goals on 29 shots in his last start, a 5-4 loss against the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday.
Who's hot: Mike Richards has seven assists in five games for the Kings. Tyler Toffoli has four goals and two assists in five games. … Clark MacArthur has three goals in two games for the Senators.
Injury report: In addition to Quick, defenseman Matt Greene (upper body) is questionable for the Kings. … Senators defenseman Marc Methot (flu) did not play Thursday and is questionable. Defenseman Jared Cowen (suspension) will also not play.
