It is indeed. But the key to your statement is 'ended up being' and this happens in big/long term contracts a lot in almost every sport.

And there's always a way to jettison a bad contract. It's just how bad do you want to rid it from yourself, and how much are you willing to lose in order to do so?

You had to ask me that didn't you. I already saw your comment about Gallo at 3B and I tend to agree but that might be where he needs to be to get both of those guys in the lineup. Miggy was not considered an elite 3B but played there so Prince could play 1B.

We have changed places with the Astros. Now if we can do as good or not better of a rebuilding job as they did.

They seem to be afraid to admit it. Maybe they waited until they didn't get Ohtani before they decided to. That's hard to say. They certainly have been in what seems like a rebuild since then though.
