There seems to be an assumption that b/c EA is playing terrific there is an automatic 'great' return on him if we traded him. I've yet to see any team(s) mentioned who would want him.

Granted, he's played lights out, and he's earned his contract for several years now. But I can't come up with a natural trading partner. Anyone?

You are probably right unless there is a perfect storm at the trade deadline and a team in the hunt is desperate for someone at that position. Crazier things have happened.

Elvis' injury gives Odor a reprieve. No matter how well Profar is playing now Odor gets his job back because they would be playing different positions. Once Elvis is healthy it doesn't matter how well Profar is playing, he will not stay in the lineup at SS. The question becomes, how much better does Profar have to be than Odor to move Odor out of the lineup? I think Profar would have to be playing significantly better and all Odor has to do to keep his spot at that point would be to be in one of his intermittent good streaks.

He made strides as the season progressed, but the overall numbers were ugly. This season, Mazara had hits six of his first 13 at-bats against lefties with a pair of walks. Stretch it back to last August 1 and he is hitting .338 for 68 at-bats vs. lefties. Among the 50 left-handed hitters with at least 50 at-bats vs. lefties in that stretch, it ranks fifth.

I have always said guys have to get experience hitting pitchers from the same side to get better at that. Too many times folks are tempted to put the label on a young player that he can't hit pitching from a certain side. Many times I believe that label is put on way too early and is applied with super glue.

I have heard some talk show hosts saying this injury to Elvis could affect his decision to opt out or his trade value. I don't think it will affect either of those.

So time out is just under 60 days. Glad they get to bring up Guzman. Auditions for all. Other guys coming back so guess we don't need to burn the roster spot although Lincecum I don't think has been added.

I vehemently disagree with the decision to move Gallo off 1B.

Eventually, this team is going to have to find a way to get Gallo, Guzman and Calhoun in the lineup at the same time. That could be later this year or to start next year. When that happens I think Guzman will be at 1B. Rua and Profar are getting the chance to see if they can join those other three guys long term in the lineup or not.

This chance for Guzman to get his feet wet and start learning what he needs to work on to hit big league pitching will be good in the long run.

After 2 games Holland has an ERA of 4.09. Of course last year he had an ERA of 2.37 after 10 starts and then fell apart.

And another thing......Calhoun. What has he shown us that would put him on the big club. Other than a reputation for hitting in the minors what do we know about his ability to break in on defense?
