LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Kings have signed forward Trevor Lewis to a two-year contract extension through the 2015-16 season, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Lewis, 27, has played in 70 games with the Kings this season, recording 11 points (6-5=11) and six penalty minutes. His six goals are a career high.

In 273 career regular season NHL games (all with the Kings) Lewis has 48 points (18-30=48) and 57 penalty minutes. He was selected as the Kings Unsung Hero two straight years (2011-12 and 2012-13).

The 6-1, 198-pound native of Salt Lake City has also appeared in 44 career NHL postseason games, accumulating 16 points (5-11=16) and six penalty minutes. Lewis was a member of the Kings’ 2012 Stanley Cup Championship team.

Lewis was selected by the Kings in the first round (17th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Not a bad signing. He's a pretty good 4th line forward. Plays solid defense and has good speed. Teams need these guys too. Everyone can't be an offensive threat.

Would be nice to have someone who can chip in a few more points, but he does a fair job. Every now and then he surprises me with a quick burst of speed or nice move with the puck before he shoots into the side of the net or into the goalies chest
