The Sox might want to keep Andrus for some middle infield help - especially if they say goodbye to TA. Bryan Shaw should get an offer and maybe Urena for some bullpen help.

It actually wouldn't bother me if any of these FAs departed, but from a common sense standpoint, I get your point as far as retaining a couple of them for stability & transitional purposes.

There are some FA catchers that make some sense - Austin Hedges - Gary Sanchez and Victor Caratini.

It would be a surprise if Giolito and Flaherty were not signed off the rubbish heap and given to Katz to turn them into major league pitchers again.

I would trade Cease to the Orioles and take some of their backlog of guys ready for the majors.

Kinda makes sense for Clevinger to opt of the $12mil contract and accept the $4mil buyout. He should easily get offers for at least $10mil, which would give him a $2mil advantage right out of the gate.

I was looking forward to a Clevinger - Bauer reunion as the Sox take a deep dive into the cream of the domestic violence pool (and they are buddies).

Hardly unexpected with Anderson. His play really declined this year, a -2 WAR.

I think TA needed to go - but I'm sure sorry to see him go. When he was good - which was for a lot of his WS career - he was an emotional spark and defense and in the batting order. I wish we could have given him some more playoff experiences.

BTW - his decline is entirely his fault - with his home distractions and lack of preparation.

plus he is kind of injury-prone, a defensive liability and an asshole.
