A win tonight would put our percentage at a rounded off .605, which would produce a
rounded up total of 98 wins on the season.

Don't know yet who will be pitching for the Padres, but am confident Lester can beat whoever it tirns out to be.

GO RED SOX!

Look for the Red Sox to tee off on Volquez and his 5.50 ERA. It's a hot night, so the ball will be flying. I would love to see Napoli get into a HR groove starting tonight. And it's a great team for Lester to get some confidence going forward. We're going to need him to come up big the second half of the season.

A bit off-topic this, but do you remember the TV series about Wyatt Earp's one time deputy, Bat Masterson? That was a show ai was very fond of as a child, to the point where one halloween I went with a toy pistol in a cross-draw holster like the one the fictional Masterson wore in that show. And read a biography of the historical Masterson as well.

I fully expect the Sox to score a minimum of three runs in the first 3 innings. That's Volquez' standard MO. :L

Running a little late. Padres up 1-0! Volquez will need that run.

Are you talking about Shane Victorino?

I was very excited when the Red Sox got him because I had really liked what I'd seen of him in the few Phillies games I had watched.

Yeah, guess I lost track of him. Okay, now is when Volquez worries me most. If he can make it through the first three, he's usually solid. :hope:

Anyone else here share a pet peeve of mine? Namely the failure of
announcers to give a batter's OPS rather than his batting average?

OPS tells you so much more than the more old-fashioned number which is
essentially a remnant of the dead ball era.

Time to tour the bases and get that pardon-my-language zero off our side of the scoreboard, Red Sox.

That's a start, but WE WANT MORE!

Take the lead, Red Sox!

Should be getting into the Padre's bullpen soon.

Wish we'd score runs off starters more often, but as long as we win...

Our 'pen is more solid than Volquez. You shoulda taken your shot at him. I just hope he can get out of this inning.

Nice to hear Middlebrooks has 2 homers in Pawtucket this afternoon, but have you ever seen Pawtucket's home ballpark?

I have, and so help me it makes Fenway look like a pitcher's park! If the fences weren't 20 feet high alla round....

390 feet is the longest part of that ballpark if i remember correctly. :laugh3:

1ER over six is a gem for Volquez at Fenway. I'll take that all day long.
