Well, in 2002 season, Iowa wasn't eligible for the Rose Bowl with Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl (NCG) and the Orange Bowl chose their teams before Rose anyway.

But your point is right. I thought too soon myself. I like Ferentz. I seemed to be the only Iowa fan defending him before last season. But I think they should have seen if he could go a few years with 10+ wins.

I said in a post before (not sure what thread) that Iowa is not elite right now. They are a 1 year wonder.

Hawkeye fans are hardcore and always travel well, honestly feel sorry for you guys.

Is Iowa a good team. Yes.

Well, there were a ton of changes after the 2009 season. Iowa lost an incredible DC in Norm Parker and a decent OC Ken O'Keefe. He also lost all the other coaches he had.

So, Iowa's program was rebuilding. So, Iowa might not be a 1-year wonder and have multiple 10+ win seasons. They had one where they needed to block 2 FGs in back-to-back plays to beat Northern Iowa and did finish top 10.

If Michigan State loses to Penn State and Michigan beats Ohio State, I think Michigan goes.

All Michigan State has to do is beat Penn State in Lansing to make sure the Michigan Ohio State game has no impact on the CCG.

I will root for Iowa, if Iowa is 12-0. Only because all last year the Iowa fans wanted Ferentz fired, and if Iowa wins, Iowa will extend Ferentz until 2030 and pay him $6,000,000 per year, instead of the $4,000,000 he is getting now.
Just was looking for something and came across this post from who do you want to win the Big last year. HB10 got his wish.

Iowa's Kirk Ferentz has new deal

This source says through 2025. Some others say through 2026.

Here's a little bit from the link above:

And then Tuesday, Iowa announced it had reached an agreement with Ferentz on a contract extension. The deal will go through the 2025 season and pay Ferentz $4.5 million a year.

No other contract details were available Tuesday. After the 2014 season, when the Hawkeyes, ranked No. 10 in the USA Today coaches poll on Tuesday, finished 7-6, Iowa experienced a 17 percent drop in season ticket sales. The contract Ferentz and Iowa struck in 2010 had an extremely favorable buyout clause for Ferentz, stating if he were fired without cause the UI would pay 75 percent of his annual guaranteed amount.

That fact launched a “buyout-o-meter” around the internet. After any bad loss, there was a sea of tweets and posts that stated how much the buyout would be if Iowa decided to cut ties.

The buyout was a big topic when Barta talked about the new deal during a Tuesday news conference. Barta said the buyout is similar to the old contract.

But, before you tweet that the “buyout-o-meter” is now $30 million and change, let Barta explain his reasons.

“I said a year ago, prior to the season, that my decision to stay the course with Kirk was based on all of the values and all of the past experiences and not based on the buyout,” Barta said. “The buyout is something we could’ve done financially, but I chose to stay with him because of who he is and he had done.”
This is not surprising at all. Now Ferentz will coast until retirement.

Now you get crushed in your own crib to Northwestern, a team who lost at home to Illinois State?

Poor Hawkeye fans, you don't deserve this for another decade.
