I prefaced it all with IF the Spurs want to re-build.
2 top-10 picks in a good draft is not a bad way to start a re-build, and I'm not sure a one year rental of Kawhi and 4 years of a $20M Aldridge is gonna fetch much better than that. And Parsons will be off the books at the perfect time for a re-build.
Again... this is IF the spurs want to go "the process" route.
They don't have to, with Aldridge they are a good enough team to stay competitive if that's what they want to do.
They would get two young player, two high draft picks (could be stars) and they would shed around $30M with salaries not counting draft pick salaries. Make it happen Altman
Seems legit
...and would leave Cleveland with nothing next year except Aldridge.
And another ship lol
(cough)Chris Paul(cough)
Not likely.
If Pop is ready to retire and the Spurs are thinking of rebuilding at all, here's a trade idea:
Spurs get #4, #8, Chandler Parsons, Jordan Clarkson, & Cedi Osman
Grizzlies get #18, Kevin Love
Cavs get Kawhi Leonard, LaMarcus Aldridge
Jesus.
Spurs get killed there. Cavs get way too much.
Fair return for Memphis though.
Here's the best deal I can think of to move Kawhi. Some team might need to throw in an additional second round pick or so, but for the most part it's straight up based on players. Who says no?

Because there's only 82 games. A 7 win jump from already being the best team is giganticThe hilarious part is that this deal only increases the warriors projected wins by 7.
Add a superstar and 2 near elite modern big men and only gain 7 wins.

And those win projections are stupid. On the same trade it's projected to have no effect on the Spurs. Trading Kawhi for Iggy and Bell.

They didn't - The Lakers were in third place one year they won with Shaq and Kobe - just because a team has the best record, doesn't mean they will be the champions or the best. The best knows how to lose games for the benefit of the playoffsI don't remember the Warriors having the best record this year, strange....
