I think we need to take a look at Gus and if he isn't ready to be a 5/6 go after a guy of that caliber to solidify our defense. Then try to sign Suter in the off season.

Yep. Feb 27th is still aways off yet. Plenty of time to see what Gusty has before pulling the trigger for an NHL ready dman.

Schenn lead the NHL in giveaways last year.
Yes he's young but I'm not sure that's the best player you can get for JVR.
JVR is having a rough year but the kid has talent. Keep him with Giroux and let some of his drive smear off on JVR.

Really?
JVR is considered to be a power forward or at least develop into one.

So let me ask you this.

How old was John LeClair when he finally blossomed into the player well all know and love?

I'll give you a minute to look it up......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
26 years old give or take. How old is JVR? 22.

Here's a breakdown of LeClairs first years -
1990-1991 - 10gp for 7pts
1991-1992 - 50gp for 19pts
1992-1993 - 72gp for 44 pts
1993-1994 - 74gp for 43 pts (at 25 years old)

It wasn't until 1995 when he played 82 games and had 97pts.

JVR in comparison
2009-2010 - 78gp for 35pts
2010-2011 - 75gp for 40pts
2011-2012 - 37gp for 22pts - projected 82 games is 48pts (at 22 years old)

LeClair hits 43 points in his 4th season at 25 years old
JVR hits 48 points in his 3rd season at 22 years old.

Do you still think the Flyers will trade JVR?

If the Flyers keep JVR, I'm willing to bet in 3 years you'll be thanking homer for signing him to that Cap friendly deal last year.

I fully agree and unfortunately the armchair gm's have balls of steal and will trade anyone after a bad game...haha! Thank goodness Homer will wait it out and make a rational decision. Now Schenn wouldn't have been a brutal move as both players are young and have promising careers...maybe a change of scenery would do them both good but I wouldn't be jumping at that trade. To be honest suter or weber would be better as you know they are good....older but better.

No 1 -Leclair wasnt a number 2 overall pick which should be producing a lot more at this point.
Number 2- Leclair didnt get the ice time with front line players the JVR has this early in his career
Number 3- Leclair mixed it up in the corners played in front of the net where power forwards are supposed to play JVR doesnt even know where the front of the net is
No 4- Leclair would check other players something JVR has yet to do in three years the guy is the biggest puss in the NHL
N0 5- JVR has one move that never works EVER!!!!
No-6- Leclair was a leader on his teams something JVR will never be because again nobody respects a puss

If Homer trades him as soon as possible i will be thanking Homer any way i could.

Well this arm chair GM is willing to trade that POS JVR after 3 years of waiting for him to do anything not after one game. I would love to know how you could say JVR has a promising career??? Based on what?????

He's 22. Were you someone that want to give up on Giroux or Richards when they were that young. I remember people wanting trade Richards because he was a bust when he first game up.
22, reasonable cap hit, can play top line minutes if needed.
Points will come
He's 22.
(Did I get enough 22's in?)

Bobby Ryan took 3-4 years to fully develop and now look at him. It's just power forwards. They need time to get bigger, tougher, smarter, etc.

JvR has bulked up each year since his rookie season. He's working at it. I do think he needs to change his game a bit. That one is on the coaches.

I tend to agree with you. He's 22 and he has 22 points (another twenty-two) in 37 games while playing injured and getting essentially third line minutes. If we trade this kid now, he's going to be the next guy we talk about that blossomed into a star after we unloaded him (primarily Sharp, but even Prospal or Williams to a lesser extent).

while i see your point, bobby ryan had 31 goals in 64 games in his first "full" season.. 35 the next year.. so i dont think he's the right example haha.. he had 71 NHL goals when he turned 22.. jvr has 47..

Or he will be the next mediocre player that was drafted at the number 2 spot that never lived up to his potential which he is well on his way to doing.

Cooter is 18 and look at his game. Solid defense, solid passing sklills leadership skills, two way player, checks people, stands in front , goes in corners and has more than one move that never works. how long should we wait while the cup gets handed to other teams year after year. age means nothing as Cooter is way younger and way better and can slide right into JVR's minutes as we add a defenseman that is more needed than a 22 years old mediocre player and the biggest puss in the league.

You won't be able to claim that for another 3-4 years at best even if it ever does happen. To say he's well on his way there already is a stretch.

Yea but JvR made the dumb decision to go to a college that coaches and GM's told him would slow down his progress.

I think he will be fine in due time. He proved there is star potential last playoffs. Give him more time
