Joe Mather lands with Reds

The Reds signed outfielder Joe Mather to a minor-league deal and assigned him to Double-A Pensacola, the team announced.

Mather, who was released by the Phillies near the end of spring training, is batting .219/.271/.357 with 14 home runs and 49 RBI over 493 career at-bats.

Mather and Teahen are evidence there are some holes in the upper farm.

....that don't appear to be addressing the holes in the big club lineup.

Mather would be all right for 15 days, tops, mainly because he knows how to get from the hotel to the ballpark.
