MONDAY’S NEWS REPORTS:

  • The Mets avoided getting swept by posting a 4-3 win on Sunday against theAtlanta Braves at Turner Field. After Jerry Blevins retired three straight lefty batters, Jeurys Familia recorded the game’s final two outs for his first save since Jenrry Mejia was suspended. Bartolo Colon improved to 2-0 with a seven-inning performance. He also produced his first RBI since 2005, with a single against opposing starter Alex Wood. Daniel Murphy, pinch hitting for Colon, provided the go-ahead sacrifice fly in the eighth. Murphy was out of the starting lineup because of fatigue, which manager Terry Collins suggested was the result of not having a full spring training due to a pulled right hamstring. Michael Cuddyer contributed his first homer as a Met. Read game recaps in the Post, Daily News, Times, Newsday, Record and at NJ.com andMLB.com.

  • Read more on Blevins and Familia sharing the ninth-inning duty in the Post,Daily News, Record and at NJ.com.

  • Columnist Kevin Kernan in the Post writes that the Mets desperately needed to avoid the sweep in Atlanta before heading home.

  • Read more on deGrom pitching the home opener in Newsday.

  • Mets players speculate to Jared Diamond in the Journal that maybe Mejia acted out of “carelessness rather than malice.”

  • Cody Satterwhite allowed two runs in the bottom of the ninth, but escaped a bases-loaded jam by coaxing a double play and Las Vegas held on and beat Fresno, 8-7. Luis Cessa tossed seven scoreless innings in Binghamton’s 6-2 win against Akron. Yeixon Ruiz had a three-run triple, but St. Lucie lost to Bradenton, 7-5. John Mora had a two-run homer in Savannah’s 6-3 loss at West Virginia. Read the full minor league recap here.

  • Top prospect Noah Syndergaard is due to make his season debut on Monday for Vegas. He was placed at the back end of the 51s’ rotation out of caution after dealing with forearm stiffness late in spring training, according to Collins. Read more in Newsday and at MLB.com.

  • SNY’s Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling reflect on 10 years in the broadcast booth together in the Daily News. "Ten years from now, I'll be 71," Hernandez tells the newspaper. "Hopefully, I'll be doing the same thing. At an older age, I could scale back a little bit, but I certainly want to do this for another 10 years, minimum.”

  • From the bloggers … Faith and Fear isn't afraid to embrace the annoyance of a Mets loss when necessary. … Mets Report suggests David Wright’s comments on Mejia’s suspension explain why he’s the captain.

Lagares needs to be moved the leadoff spot. Granderson in that spot makes little to no sense, even if you factor in the whole "you get more opportunities for RBIs" argument. Granderson should be in the 6 spot.

Love it. We should not lose to teams like the Phillies if we plan on being serious contenders. Let's wrap up the next 2 as well.

Cuddyer and Flores both hit in the hand in the same inning, Cuddyer left the game. Let's hope nothing is broken, we can't afford many injuries to this lineup.

Ugh, Wright gets hurt late in the game on a slide into second, tweaked something. Cuddyer and Wright both leave the game. Not good.
