Well rumor is that we will know by Tuesday if Drew is being a team guy or a money guy. I don't blame a guy for trying to get paid but the more he takes the less likely the team can win the cup. I like Dustin Brown's answer when I asked him why he didn't try for more. He said "how much more do I need"

A guy I know who knows people who know stuff just sent me a message Kings and Drew's agent talked today. 7 years was discussed but Drew wants less so he can be a UFA.
I personally hope it gets done be Friday. Drew is going to be on a cruise ship with 300 Kings fans this weekend. Good luck getting any peace.

ESPN Insider is saying the Wings will send an offer sheet Drew's way.

The Wings have 5.8 mil cap space. I think the Kings would match that.

L.A. Kings and Drew Doughty may have an agreement in principle on a long-term deal that may no longer have a NMC provision as a stumbling block. I am told there is also a “back up” 5 year deal in place. Everyone chatted via conference call and it ended well with a happy Drew.

Drew Doughty's agent, Don Meehan, says reports of any deal in place w/Kings are not true. "no not at all. certainly not true." says Doughty training every day in London...and that he hasn't talked to Kings' Lombardi or Jeff Solomon since mid-July.

Dean Lombardi declines comment but clearly no deal in any semblance betwen Kings and Doughty.
