Well we've got someone who can get Gentry out! That'll help in our rematch in the WS.

How did Kontos look? Jon Miller raved about the slider.

Losing 2-3 to Texas would have been expected, but they were what 3-8 over their last 11? Would have been nice to help them to continue their slump.

At this point, I think the FO has to seriously consider skipping Timmy a start. He is seriously all over the place, and until he can find some sort of consistent release he's only going to continue to get beat up.

I think he gets at least 2 more starts

Sat Night @ Seattle ( Hometown ) and then the following Fri @ Oakland

2 of the weaker offensive teams , after that he is scheduled for 3 more starts before the All start Break including the last game ( B4 AS break )

Wow

Last year, it was tight, this year his back is WAY arched, and his arm if flailing all over the place.

Gardy and Rags need to see this, like yesterday.

gotta consider the undisclosed injury theory. The arching of his back, compensation for soreness elsewhere?

Before (after?) we go ape-shit over this, have you looked at other pitches from the game to assure this is not a single occurrence? If there are 3 or 4 more samples of this delivery, than I would be convinced it is an issue.

Has Timmeh been throwing the slider this year? I know he announced in ST that he was abandoning it, but has he actually abandoned it?

Yes. Did he ever really say he was abandoning it? I heard Chris Lincecum say that Timmy told Bochy that he wasn't going to throw the slider until he had built up sufficient arm strength during spring training, i.e. he was NOT going to be throwing the slider in his first spring action. And that Bochy mistranslated that for the press into, "timmy's not going to throw the slider in order to protect his arm". We then translated that into, "OMG! Timmy can't throw the slider any more - he's hurt!".

Chris Lincecum sounded quite irked about that whole thing.

You are really riding this horse, but unless he is injured and goes down to rehab it...it isn't going to happen.

No way...

I think he gets one more start, vs. Seattle on Saturday. His natural day to pitch would be the off day between the Angels and A'ss series. If he's not "right" vs. the M's, they could easily skip him and let him throw a couple of times on the side to work on the release. He'd then return to the rotation Tues night at home vs. the doyers. I'd bet this is what they'll do. Nobody would have to pitch on short rest.

This makes some sense but are we ready to trust Timmy to take the ball in a game vs LA?

He's 1/5 of the rotation. Unless we're going to DL him, he has to take the ball.

Unless you'd like to see Hacker again.

Since we're on the subject of breaking his delivery down, here's an interesting video analysis of how he is able to generate velocity. Im not sure if everything on this vid is accurate or just some marketing tool for some hip strengthening product but I found it interesting nonetheless.

Notice how they hit on 4 of the 5 required elements of his delivery. Omitting alignment

Nice video. As complicated as they made the pitching motion out to be, I'm surprised Timmy can ever find the strike-zone. I'd love for them to do another video to explain where Timmy has lost 5mph on his fastball. That would go a long way to selling their product too.

Did anyone else think that those stills of pitchers with 90+ degree arm rotations looked a bit scary? I did find it interesting that Timmy has one of the smaller arm rotations for a pro - perhaps part of the reason Chris Lincecum has always claimed Timmy is less prone to arm injury.
