Is it ok to re-cap beers?

I bought a 750 of Revolution Straight Jacket on my last venture into Chicago. It is 13% abv, and cost $19, so consuming in one evening is not really what I want to do with it. Would it be ok, after opening, to put another cap on it and seal it back up for a few days?

i've done it, i would just try to make sure to drink it the next day or so

agree with 757, it will go flat even with the recapping so try and get it done sooner rather than later. if you don't mind flat beer, you can wait longer

Your best bet would be to share it or just drink it...

So that's like 4-5 regular beer?

Why would you not just chug it and be done with it?

All the extra head space in the bottle will want to equalize pressure with the beer so it will still go flat even if you recap it. It might hang on for a day or two though so drink it quick.

Breweries counter pressure fill bottles, so the space in between the beer and cap to begin with is co2. Recapping just leaves air in the bottle so no, won't work.

That is a great beer though so if you have any extras and want to send me some I'd be willing to pay or trade you for em.

But ONLY if you have to. My Wife learned years ago not to waste time with the "it's okay , i will just have a sip of yours" WRONG , i will order you one to drink half of and waste , but i like em full to start with.
