Shouldn't be that shocking. He was a first round (possibly lottery) talent who lasted til the 2nd round only because he blew out his knee that season. He 'did nothing' his first couple of seasons because he was recovering from knee surgery and because Stan was his coach. He showed glimpses here & there of what you see now. I wouldn't pass judgement any young player drafted by SVG until he gets to another team with another coach.Dinwiddie's success is a shocker. He was a second round pick that did nothing for his first couple seasons, and is suddenly having some success with the Nets. However, he is not exactly dominating the NBA, yet somehow won the skills challenge.
No, Stan recognized his potential, then drafted him, and then F-d with him, his psyche, and his game like he does every player he drafts. Spencer never played a game for the Bulls. He was cut during camp as a cap move because they had taken on a bunch of guaranteed contracts and Spencer was non-guaranteed.The Bulls also cut him, so it isn't like SVG was the only coach who failed to recognize his potential. Like Middleton, Dinwiddie fell to the second round due to injury, but neither were likely to be lottery picks.
