Still can't believe Jerry Rice asked for and received Largent's retired number from the Seahawks...

this just about says it all ... Sundin played what ??? ... an 11 second shift in vancouver ??? and Pavel gets joint billing with him lol

Yeah, but Mats tenure in Vancouver made the Bob Cole drinking game exponentially more fun. For that alone he's on par with Pavel.

Another Shanny stat:

Shanny ranks 3rd in GWG with 109. Just behind Jagr with 114 and Brett Hull with 110.

This tweet from Mike Richards (TSN radio personality, not the Kings player) has me howling:

Bob Cole voice: "Oh baby, that Sundin! He's at it again! Now he can join me in the Hall of Fame..and why shouldn't he?!"

You see, I have no problem with Mats Sundin getting in over Brendan Shanahan for the simple fact that Mats Sundin was a better hockey player...

Shanahan has 6 more points in his career... in 178 more games. Sundin guaranteed his teams at least 70+ points for about 16 years. He was better; Shanahan just played longer.

But Shanny served a good deal of time in the penalty box during those games so points and number of games washes. Plus Shanny gave funny interviews and was a dominant alto sax player.

and I dont think you can put the cups in this. totally different teams in their times. Sundin is just the better player.

Shanny also had 1300+ penalty minutes more than Sundin in his career. You have to think this time in the sinbin took away time from piling up points. Besides, Shanny also provided this classic youtube clip:

Just curious; how many times has Shanahan's name been on the ballot?

I'm not saying that one is better than the other but Brendan Shanahan is the 2nd highest scoring LW in history.

Mats Sundin is the at BEST the 3rd highest scoring center of his ERA.

Stats don't say it all as well. Glad to see Sundin get in. He was a fantastic player and a class act.

I just don't think that, in this year's class, that there should be any scenario in which Shanahan is not in the best four eligible players.

I don't know if I would agree with Sundin getting in before Shanny though. That one was a bit surprising.

I don't agree with it personally, but Sundin is deserving as hell, and look at where he played most of his career. Not a huge surprise there.

I think this is the first class of hockey HOFers where I saw them all play live and had all of their hockey cards growing up. I am officially middle-aged.

Also, congrats to Adam Oates. This has to be one of the all-time best days ever in sports.

That's because if LWs were good enough at skating, they'd switch to center.

Keith Tkachuk is the 6th highest scoring LW. I'd give the tubby bastard a medal if I thought he wouldn't eat it.

and if Pat Burns does not get in this year. well fuck them all

Dont get me started on how criminal it was of those fucking toolbars for not voting him in when he was still alive. He is a shoe in and they should have gave the man his day.
