but we need a late inning defensive replacement for Hanley... Rojas is likely to be that guy. Although, I would prefer Arruebarrena.

Second.

Mattingly is a very safe manager so he probably will choose Rojas, it just comes down to preferences really. You prefer Arruebarrena, and I would sacrifice a little defense for a little offense.

well Barney isn't a good hitter, either.

He's not a great hitter but he's been pretty good in this lineup. His defense couldn't be that much worse than Rojas though, and he's been flawless in 11 innings at shortstop, small sample size sure but there isn't really any indication that he couldn't play short.

If I were the manager, I wouldn't take Hanley out unless it was a huge blowout. If a game were to go extra innings I think Rojas would be a black hole offensively, and as a pinch hitter.

Both are bad hitters (don't be fooled by Barney's small sample size of at bats with LA)

and Rojas is a better SS, which is what we need. should be an easy decision.

Even Vin Scully said that Mattingly will have to think hard about whether Barney should be on the playoff roster, it's a valid discussion.
