Ebay is still relevant, but:
1) It's fees for sales have become obscene.
2) You have to be very careful of selling and buying, especially from individuals. Even with the Ebay guarantees, you still come across strange events like accounts that appear to have favorable histories, but they won't pay up after being the highest bidder, and you have to try to resolve it through Ebay, and it can take a long time to get things cleared to be able to officially relist it again. Been burned on that a few times selling things and you wonder WTF was going on with the buyer because they refuse to pay up after the sale completes.
3) Be extremely careful when dealing with bidders from China, Russia, and the middle-east. You get bizaare messages from them trying to crack side deals away from Ebay, and you know something fishy is going on. Unless you get your payment transfered into paypal and then to your bank account, etc...do not fall for scammers trying to obviously get you to ship first or bypass Ebay.
