Corey Clement is back...hooray and the talk is another FA RB. Rumor...Carlos Hyde.

Carlos Hyde is a player I've thought for a while makes a ton of sense at the right price.

Looks like we still have the 4th or 5th most cap space left ... now that the draft is over, I wonder if they dip back into the market to try and get some value. I would like them to take a look at DE Everson Griffen ... he's 32, but been ultra productive for a long time. As a rotational End I think he would be the type of value add at this point for the Birds. May want to kick tires on Clowney as well ... if we can get him on a one year deal for 15 mil or so it would make this Line dominant!

Just read something yesterday about how the acquisitions at this point don’t count against the comp formula. So you know Howie is looking to ship.

I wanted them to sign Robert Quinn, who has a lot of energy and skills left in the tank, but yes, Griffen would be very good. BG is getting old, and Barnett isn't one you can count on to bring it every day.

By the sound of things it does look like the Birds are bringing back Vinny Curry. I guess it makes sense financially and with a likely shorted camp/preseason ... he knows the playbook and is a plug and play guy for depth.

It’s a good point. They brought some guy back who was a UDFA with us, got his ass kicked in a training camp fight and let go. Casey Tucker I think? But he knows the playbook at least somewhat.

I think that’s going to be a route lots of teams go for depth this weird off season.

And to me. that takes them out of the Clowney interest. I wanted Ngakoue more anyway.

Sounds like it’s probably Hyde and someone like Curry over Clowney at DE. I’m good with this.

If you bring in Clowney and have someone shoot him in the alley behind the novacare complex, does he still effect the cap?

I think it's a MUST for the Eagles to forward as much Cap Space as allowed over to 2021 where we need to shave around 50 mil of the Cap. Guessing Hyde would cost around 3 mil or so, that's about as much as I can see the Birds spending aside from some vet minimum LB. I don't see any chance of guys like Clowney or Everson Griffen coming here unless they take waaaay below market value. Even then the Birds may have no interest as forwarding around 15 mil to 2021 may be too important.

Yep. That’s an anchor I’m basing all prognostication on this year. Do chep a cost improvements where you can, but push as many dollars as possible to next year. Has to be the plan.

What does that mean? I don't understand.

If they can get one of the best FA RB's, they want to give them the league minimum salary, v.s a couple $Million.
Watch them go cheap instead of getting the best they can get.

They are going to pay something like $3M for a guy like Hyde if they can. But they are not going to pay Clowney type money for a guy. That's not a league minimum discussion.

But with next years cap you have to try to find value as best you can. The one offseason move I have been seeing the most approval on was the low cost grab for Nickel-Coleman. Remains to be seen how it works on the field, but he has a rep as a really good slot corner. And by all I have read we got him on a very friendly deal. More of those (that ultimately work) would be great.

Worked out well in 2017.
