He was always kind-of a stiff. Short arms with not great bat speed. Extremely strong so if he made good contact it would go a mile, but he couldn't cover the outside part of the plate. In the field, he has no home.

As a right-handed bat, that's an extremely high hill to climb.
But he was intriguing enough in 2016 for there to be some talk on this forum, if I remember correctly.

Yeah there was, probably me among them. As more information about him came out, though, his deficiencies were exposed.

I dug around and found this from Baggarly. I wonder if it will be officially announced only after all paperwork is processed.

Beede is clearly no longer a “top” prospect, sure.

Is he even a prospect anymore? He has been a complete dumpster fire this year.

I wonder if it's a mental thing. The last 3 years he's lowered his walk rate, even upon reaching AAA for the first time. Then this year just an utter collapse.

6.5 walks per 9 in AAA, 9.4 walks per 9 in MLB. This is unlike anything he's ever done before, even at his lowest points in college. He just doesn't have a clue where the ball is going.

Pretty much nothing is going right, and it's really tough to watch.

I have no idea why, but we have seen pitchers reach the majors then lose it.

I think Osich gets optioned. The Giants aren't getting rid of any of their outfielders, at least I don't think that happens yet.
No way they drop to 12 pitchers. Not with the suckitude that is the rotation.

Then maybe Blanco or Jackson get an injury between now and May 31st.
I would endorse either of those moves.

I can see a reliever getting DFA’d when Bum is activated (Valdez or one of the Os? Maybe Gomez?). After 2 starts they may drop to 12 pitchers if Bum goes 7 in the second game.

Just cut Blanco. I looked at his numbers just now and there isn't a damn reason to keep him around over Mac, assuming Pence takes one of the reliever spots. Gorkys gets full-time duties in CF, Mac is full-time in LF, Pence backs up the corners, Jackson backs up CF. Once Panik returns:

Doesn't sound like the Giants are thinking of cutting an outfielder, at least, not the top option right now:
